This house, built on four extra-large baseplates, is a pleasant addition to any minifig neighbourhood.
About this creation
This house took two months to build (although half of that time was just waiting for the roof tiles and grass to arrive) but was an absolute joy to create. It is complete with an in-ground swimming pool, a fish pond, and a double-car garage. Many thanks go to my fiance who designed and built the roof.
The front entryway features an awning and nearby mailbox.
The view from the back shows the terrace and a small second-story balcony.
This side view shows the second-story glass-block bathroom window and the row of coniferous trees lining the narrow side of the lot.
This view from the opposite side shows off the side entrance, double driveway, and family SUV.
Here we can see the double-car garage with its stonework facade and sliding doors.
This side view of the garage shows the door, window detail, and walk-way to the main house. Looks like the kids left their bikes out again!
The flowers are all in bloom, adding a cheerfulness to the house.
The gardener seems more than a little upset to find a duck having lunch in the fish pond.
The pool was designed to give the impression of both shallow and deep ends.
The gardener's work truck features a built-in rack for tools and ample room for moving equipment.
Designing a lawnmower to minifig scale that didn't look bulky definitely taxed my brain for a bit, but I'm pleased with the result.
The barbecue and patio furniture were fun to make and help give the house an authentic lived-in feel.
What better way to supervise the kids in the pool than by sitting nearby enjoying a croissant and beverage?
Thanks for taking the time to view this house, which has been my most ambitious project to date!
You've gotten some great comments from some very respectable builders and Chris too! Much deserved I might add. The detail is overwhelming! For some reason the shed is one of my fav details along with your varying depths in the pool. Really great stuff!~H
WOW This is an excellent house! The design is excellent, and the details really show how dedicated you were to making it look lived in. The lawnmower is perfect and well worth the tumor you got from it! And the BBQ is fantastic! Keep up the great work. Looking forward to seeing more builds from you in the future.
You know, I don't usually take the time to comment on City (I'm more of a sci-fi guy), but I came here following Kelso's comments, and I was really impressed by the level of detail, and the "realism" of this MOC. Very well done, very lively, I enjoied every picture.
Now, here's the irony that I just put together (I've been awake for about 24 hours now... so please bear with me) I'm in the middle of a build that needed a facade for a house. Looking over this moc again I realize that a lot of the basic ideas are very similar to what I've already done... in short, what I'm saying is... no, I didn't steal em yet! hahaha
Size matters not... wait, sorry, I was channeling Yoda there for a second. "Get out of my head you old dead Jedi!" Ok, better now. This thing is simply AMAZING! That roof design is inspired and the grill out back... any man would be proud to slap his meat down on that baby!... ummm, wait, that probably came out wrong. ANYWAY... I hope you know, I'm TOTALLY going to study this and steal... I mean "borrow" building techniques for my own builds. I'm floored here. ~ Chris.
