ASH-26 Python
Designed as a next-generation weapons system, the Air Superiority Hybrid has helicopter-like maneuverability and jet-like speed. The two large tilt turbofan engines provide the majority of the power and the two smaller engines send power to the rear tail swivel thrusters. In case the Python goes down, the entire cockpit ejects from the body. If the Python needs to be transported part of the tail tilts up and the cockpit can be detached and stored next to it. The Python is designed to provide close air support like a helicopter but is able to respond faster than any rotorcraft in existence. When outfitted with fuel pods and a mid-air refueling probe, the Python is an excellent recon and scout aircraft. In addition to carrying a variety of guns, rockets, and missiles it is also armed with some new weapons. The Python is the first aircraft able to carry a fully functional rail gun, direct energy weapon (laser beam), and EMP pulse dish. The Python has been especially good at killing other aircraft earning it the nickname, "Sky Shark"
About this creation

This project was more of an evolution than an outright build. Even though the body stayed mostly the same you can see all the things I changed to transform it into the Python.

The clear plastic is the holographic HUD for the pilot

What the cockpit looks like when it breaks away.

Extra wingtip hardpoints mounted on for higher weapon loadout.

Rocket pods and independent tracking machine guns.

The Technic piece gives the guns awesome range of motion.

Loaded for a long range recon mission. Extra fuel tanks, mid-air refuel probe, and two air to air missiles just in case there's unexpected company.

The rail gun and laser both swivel vertically so the Python can stay at higher altitudes and still fire downward.

EMP pulse dish instead of the laser.

Armed and dangerous.

Just showing how I got the engine and tail assembly to stay together. The tubes came from some old Star Wars Technic set so I got plenty to cut as I need them.

This was an idea I had early on. If it was the right color and it had holes along the edges for better swiveling it might have worked. That piece has potential if Lego would tweak it a little.

This is just plain awesome. The interchangeable weapons and the engines are genious. Take a look at my Arrow VTOL, and tell me what you think.

Yes I did, it was an airplane set of the robot jet thingy. My parts were black.

Hey, added a pic of what it would look like if I used one of those giant fan pieces. Take a look if you're interested.

Quoting Ryan Mitchell Amazing. I'll trade you mine for yours.
I actually tried to use one of those giant fans like like you have on yours. Did you get yours with a Exo Force set to? Anyway, it was blue and didn't work with the rest of it at all.

Excellent shape to this ship, as well as nice work on the engines. A very good overall build in my opinion. -Sam
