Retro-Futuristic Flying Car
Joint Venture with my little brother Alien Boy ( a retro-futuristic flying car, with working lights and convertible roof.
About this creation

Now this one's a little different.

This one's not just mine - it's a model I built together with my little brother (you can see his page here: .
Originally, he wanted to make a futuristic version of my 30's sports car ( ; I then gave a few ideas. He built the main bodywork, sides, rear etc whilst I worked on the convertible roof and electric front and rear lights. I also added a couple of little bits, such as the big fins (can't have a retro-futuristic car without huge fins!). Though it would be fairer, after I told him that it would just be weird to have the same model posted twice on MOCpages by two different people, he wanted it posted on mine to hopefully get more views and interest (so I think it's only fair that if you like it, you check out some of his solo creations - the original Darth Vader's House is quite funny, and some of his other things have some potential - you can see them all here:

I was asked by a friend 'why light gray?' . Answer : cuz we've run out of good parts in most other colours. Just pretend it's a sort of dull silver, stainless steel type look. That'd fit in better with the idea.
Just like the 30's sports car, it's about 1:21 scale, making it somewhere between lego-dude and technic-dude scale.

So, anyway - here's a two-seater flying car, the design of which is based upon the futuristic thinking of the amazing american cars from the 50s. The rear end is supposed to be (very) slightly reminiscent of the '59 Eldorado.
We've got a convertible roof - lots of photos, in a proper order even this time (yay!) to show how it works; so the car can be either a closed roof coupé or an open-roof roadster (or skyster, whatever you'd call it). I decided to give it a different sort of controller to a steering wheel, just for the futuristic side of things.
It's also got working lights on the front and back; with a battery pack hidden under the bonnet in front of the dashboard, using official lego lights (for those interested; I'm sorry but I don't know what sets they're from... only that they're from early 90s sets), with wires hidden in front of the battery pack behind the front lights; and going down one of the sides for the rear lights.

Hope you like it :)

P.S. If you are looking to buy lego for your creations, I would like to recommend the following Bricklink lego shop ; "About Town, Castle & Train" ( )
I personally know the shopholders, and they are very nice, devoted people. They are currently sponsoring 100% of my 1/3 Lamborghini project, providing all of the parts; and have made various other donations to other models I have made.
The store has a wide selection of parts (over 600,000!), at good prices, and offer an exceptional, fast service (no tax or dodgy exchange rates, next day postage, etc). you won't be disappointed !
P.P.S. I'm not getting anything out of 'advertising' for them; they're genuinely a good lego shop who'll really do their best for you :)

Quoting Bonald 1101 Really cool! What are the hinges on the side for?
Not a lot lol... my little brother did the sides and main bodywork, he just thought it'd look cool with those little bumps to stop it being too plain. -Dan

Very nice model, the retractable roof is great but it still looks better with the top on.....But that's only my opinion ;-)

Great looking car! Also, its nice to see you working with your brother on a creation, as whenever I try to do anything with my sisters, the result is usually a fight =P
