About this creation

Normally I built trucks but now I wanted to make an american muscle car. I wanted to make it as big as I can with my bricks, so I did. It became a 22 wide, black dodge charger with red interior, working 4 gear gearbox, v8, suspension and steering with the steering wheel and with a small tire on the back. I like the result, but I think it is not wide enough, but its too much work to change it. I never saw a charger in real life so maybe its a good copy.

To built the car I used pictures from the internet of real cars and some pictures from this site. I tried to built the car like a real car is built, that is I think the easiest way to make the car realistic. First I built the chassis with the suspension. as realistic as possible with lego.
After that the engine and gearbox, it didn't fit ofcourse, it never does the first time and I wanted to keep enough space for the interior. I placed like in the real car the gearbox behind the engine in the drivetrain and the steering didnt fit anymore. In the steering mechanism you don't want too much gears, so in the end I got it all in but the small tire on the back of the car works the wrong way.
After the technics and the chassis I started to built the exterior on the car and that's the most heavy part, I kept it as light as possible (otherwise the suspension wouldnt hold the weight), that's the reason the car doesnt have a trunk. Before I put the roof on I made the interior and last but not least the roof. I was thinking about a cabriolet, but I don't think there is a dodge charger cabrio. Maybe homemade, but not massproduced. A roof gives a car a finished look i think, making a cabrio is easy, less work.

I will take some pictures of the chassis and add them so people can get idea's from my car, feel free to give tips and tools for me to improve my car.

Here you can see some of the technics. the gearbox is placed just behind the engine en the gearshift is connected with a bar to the gearbox.

the seats can swing forwart so passengers can get in the back easely. the steering wheel works and in the doors are compartments.

The suspension works and the car is very stiff. One of the most important things in a car like this is a very stiff chassis. the car weighs over 2 kilos and you need a very strong chassis for that.

And ofcourse the engine

This is an awesome muscle car! Which reminds me that I'm planning out my own retro Dodge Charger design as a Lego model! I'm working on a muscle car on Lego Digital Designer and I only worked on making the engine and drive-shaft. I might make it my own retro Dodge Charger!

Pretty awesome! One of my favorite cars! Nice job but the roof should be a little bit more smaller in height!

GReat work. You've got the tricky lines of the Charger down. The only suggestion I would have is to lower the roofline quite a bit and to use black pieces in the grill. Other than that, outstanding muscle car!

This is the best charger i've seen heren on mocpages. i realy like the oldschool look of it and with the combination of the newer parts. I make alot of technic models and trying more and more to combine it with regular lego and it's not so easy as it seems. realy good job with great modeling 5/5
