Memorial Hermann Tower
TEXLUG's LEGO version of the Memorial Hermann Tower
About this creation

A MOC of

Memorial Hermann Tower

Houston, TX

This MOC was designed by TEXLUGers TJ Avery and myself

The MOC started when TJ got this email on Aug 08, 2008:

Good afternoon, TJ –

My name is Lindsey K. and I work for Memorial Hermann in Houston, TX. We worked with two of your group members a few years back on a Christmas build in conjunction with Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. We are looking to host a similar event at the new Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Center and I wanted to see if TexLUG might be interested in working with us again. This time, we want to replicate our new building located on IH 10 at Gessner. If you live in Houston, you know what I’m talking about… it’s a 33-story glass structure with a “crown” on top. In any case, if you are interested in discussing this further, please contact me.

Thank you!
Note: More information after the pictures.

After much time:

Here's TEXLUG's LEGO version of the Memorial Hermann Tower in it's temporary home in the lobby of the real thing. Memorial Hermann Hospital was to host an event in the Tower the same day the model was installed, and then in the evening would move the tower to a conference room for storage until a permanent display case is built. Currently we are told that after the building is completely finished the model will be moved up to the entry floor of the Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital to set in the foyer there.

TEXLUG's debut of the commissioned build of the new Memorial Hermann Tower at the grand opening festivities November 14, 2009.

TEXLUGer Anthony Sava took a series of pictures during the Grand Opening Show

Here I am setting the "crown" in place.

Before reading your text when I saw this what ran through my mind was 'that has to be Memorial Herman Hospital on I-10!' It is really nice to see something from home, especially while being out of the country. Thank you.

Wow, that is extremely impressive! All those odd shapes angles and especially that crown on top, must have been really hard to duplicate in Lego, yet they've been pulled off magnificently. ~T
