This is my Western Maryland flatcar. This is my first flatcar to feature wood decking and is part of my growing selection of steam-era rolling stock. I am adding to my steam-era rolling stock in anticipation of my best MOC yet, which is nearing completion. Hmmm I wonder what that could be....
About this creation
After making this flatcar, I thought and thought about what I should build to put on it. I tried several things and I was never pleased. After significant internet research, I came to the conclusion that I like flatcars best when they are empty. So here is a flatcar that is empty (most people will think it is boring), simple, and full of studs. I chose to not cover the top with flat tiles because the studs allow for the attaching of any loads.
One may wonder about the grey bracing underneath the car as seen in the above photo. The bracing provides strength to the flatcar so that loads do not cause the flatcar to bow in the middle.
