my entrance to the Will It Float Category in the 2010 Moc Athalon. A Rubber Ducky Submarine.
About this creation
For the "Will it Float" Category, I decided to make a old-school style rubber ducky. I was relating this contest category to my sister and she said that I should make a rubber ducky. So, after about an hour of digging through my old lego tub (I am very unorganized) I found enough yellow pieces to complete this moc. It is chunky because I think it looks more old-school and rubber duck-ish that way. It is called "Subber Ducky" because a guy fits inside and it sounds cooler than it is. It also goes underwater if left to float in the sink too long.
Here you see the ducky floating. Kind of.
Here is another semi floating picture. The head is very heavy and causes it to dip forward.
When the canopy opens, the color coordinated manipulator of this fowl machine can be seen. I am sorry, I cannot resist bad puns.
The pilot man sits in a small escape vehicle that my sister remarked looked kind of like a duck. So, the seat control thing is called"The Duckling."
Once again, you see the Duckling and its "Momma."
I chose this category because I thought it would be easy. I started building on Saturday and finished today, Wednesday. I went through a Greek Island Temple, to this, to a floating house, to a pontoon boat, and back to this. I finally got this working about 2 1/2 hours ago. What started out as a fun, easy category became a watery nightmare. A few wet pairs of jeans later, I am finally done. On that note, ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go back and change the title (Subber Ducky, You're the One...). Then be happy, because you made it float, put a life jacket on the pilot, and earned 3 points from me. |

You're right trying to float things is a nightmare. This is funny though...nice shots and great story to help us all feel your pain... |

A nice job, but a bit blocky in design. However, it does float so two (2) points to you. Lee. |

I like the idea. Still, it's a bit blocky. 2 points. |

Welcome to my world... HAHAHA I've also done about 4 versions of "stuff that "should" float" with little to no success. I got my last full build to actually float but wasn't happy with it... we'll see what happens and kudos to ya on actually getting it to work! It's harder than it looks people (without using actual lego boat pieces)! ~ Chris. |
