This is a Star Wars Trade Federation cruiser like the one in Episode III.
About this creation
This is a Star Wars Trade Federation cruiser. It was General Grievous' command ship in Episode III. It contains about 3230 pieces and weigh's about 6 pounds. It is 110cm long (43 Inch's).
I initially wanted a bluish-gray color for the hull just like the movie ship but lego doesn't produce that color. I used black instead just like Lego does when it can't find the right gray (e.g. the offical Lego tie fighter). I used 200 translucent yellow tiles to represent windows on the hull.
Before construction I desgined the ship on Lego digital desginer and used screenshots from my episode III DVD as a guide. I got the pieces off ebay, it cost a fortune. I finally know now why Lego's star destroyer costs so much!
Im currently working on a Trade Federation battleship. Then will move onto a Republic attack cruiser.
Notes: - people have asked about the interior, all that is inside is support beams. I calculated that Count Dooku would be the size of a grain of sand relative to the model so there was no point doing any floors.
- btw, if anybody cares, I think I have enough pieces to slap together an identical sister ship to keep for myself, so i might sell this one off on ebay soon. If it sells, I'll use the money to help build my Trade Federation battleship.
(Jun29) - Ship sold on ebay for 800 dollars, I'm very happy with how the auction went. A lot of people expressed interest in the ship so i'm thinking about creating a limited edition due out in August. If your interested, check in periodically for updates on the site.
(Aug 24) - If anybody cares I'm selling the instructions for the ship on ebay within the next few days.
I think that the sand blue color would have worked better for the hull color.
since it's a different color it's not Invisible Hand, but it is very apparent that it's the same class of cruiser. most excellent job!
are all of your Separatist warships built to the same scale?
MOC of the Day! It's not bad. It is definetly HUGE, EXPENSIVE, and time consuming. HOWEVER, I do think that it could be better. It really needs some greebeling. It is totally devoid of it, and that is a real shame. That is the only reason I gave it a 4.
Wow, amazing, i'd like to have something like this for my Star Wars collection, especially since it would fit right in with the droid collection im trying to make... Not so good yet... But man this is awesome!
