The most common image for Christianity - I think - is a crucified Christ.
The Chi Rho is one of the oldest forms of christogram and stands for Jesus Christ - it is formed by the greek letters for CH (chi) and R (rho).
The cross, I think, must not be explained.
Both - Cross and Chi Rho (or XP) - are essential and characteristic aspects of Christian being.
The Model is the result of uniting both in one sculpture, symbolizing Christianity and the image of crucified Christ in a abstract way.
According to the rules of the MOC Athalon a simple cross isn't allowed. Neither this isn't a simple cross, nor - sorry Lee - it isn't a statue of Jesus carrying a cross on his back, so I'm not sure about this entry...
You needn't apologize - this is a beautiful build, and in a tough/vague category. I love this build. I should have explained what I meant by a statue of Jesus carrying a cross, which could represent the concept of 'sacrifice', 'pain', or even 'love' or 'hate' depending on one's point of view. Christianity is a tough concept, and certainly a broad one. Not exactly what I had meant by this category, but I am not going to penalize you for my difficulty in conveying what I was looking for to the players. Five (5) points from me. Lee.
Hmmm... I don't know how much I agree with this being a "concept" build. After all, the cross and the Chi-Ro are both established symbols already. The most "conceptual" part in your MOC are the nails fixing the Chi-Ro to the cross (which is redundant since it already includes it), but to me it feels like you could have done the same thing with regular letters. Like a Japanese could have posted the "Kutsuu" kanji and said it was a concept build for "pain". I'm not objecting to your concept, though, I'm merely trying to explain how I feel about your interpretation of the category, since in this one we are required to judge both the concept and the MOC. The buld is simple and elegant but to me you chose a shortcut to represent your concept, so this for me is a 2. Man, am I always so wordy when I bring bad news?
