The evil yet brilliant Doctor Disaster strikes again, this time with his newest invention, shield generators! Enjoy!
About this creation
All three of my entries for the Weapons of Mass Destruction contest are in this diorama, I hope I'm not too late for judging.
Dr. Disaster's shielded mech, my vehicle entry for the contest. While not extraordinarily well armed, being shielded makes one virtually indestructable, which is a useful feature when you want to break a lot of things.
A soldier trying to quell the mechanical beast with his not-so-minigun (my entry for the heavy machine gun category).
Another soldier firing on the shielded behemoth.
Still another soldier with a big laser pointer, calling for an air strike.
What used to be a soldier, who threw a grenade at Dr. Disaster's mech, only to have it bounce back at him. Poor guy.
There's most of him...
Here's some better shots of the minigun.
I decided to go for a backpack to store ammo, similar to the minigun in Terminator 2.
Without the minifigure
Mr. Minifig is sad because he has to be parted with his favorite gun.
Dr. Disaster and his shielded mech, my entry for the vehicle category.
Without the shields. Not so impressive without them, but making a relatively compact but still stud-covered vehicle is extremely difficult.
Dr. Disaster at the controls.
Back view. Notice the fusion reactor, powerful enough to power both the mech and the shield generator.
Back hatch open.
Dr. Disaster next to his beloved killing machine.
Here are the other minifigs in the diorama.
A better view of the airstrike soldier. But what kind of strike does he call?
This, my entry for the missile category.
Only a complete psycho would operate this missile, mainly because his face is only a few feet away from an engine powerful enough to send him, the rocket, and his little booth to the next star system.
The missile itself, but there's more to this thing that meets the eye.
The center panels open up and...
Smaller missiles rocket out of the hidden chamber to deal extra damage!
Thanks for veiwing, wish me luck in the contest!

Very nice details in the missile, like it opening up to reveal other missiles, that was truly unique! 10/10 |

It's all crazy good, I love all the clear pieces, but my favorite part was for some reason...The way you used the cheese grater on that gun in the foreground of the main picture...I dunno why, but that hit me the most. Keep up this awesome work!! |

Great work on the Mechs and blaster cannons. The jail is pretty spiffy, too. I also appreciate the in-battle effect. ~Ryan |

(which also makes me envy your collection of clear round cones) [...] the actual "vehicle" is particularly blocky and covered with studs... I'm assuming you don't have t-pieces? Also the engine is cool, but could use a bit more work, maybe some greebling around the sides... all in all 8/10... P.S. Pictures are great but a bit blurry...
yeah, all of my clear cones are used in the shield effect, the studs were necessary to put them all on. The mech started out nice and smooth and sleek, but none of the shield components would fit! haha :) thanks for the review! |

As the judge below me has said, you're a tad late for the HMG entry, but the vehicle is fine, so... I'm impressed with the work you put into presentation, as, instead of simply showing the mech, you also built a bignette to go with it... I'm loving the "shields" (which also makes me envy your collection of clear round cones) but, the shields look a little too flat and close to the mech... perhaps a little out father? Parts shortages? Anyhow, like you said the actual "vehicle" is particularly blocky and covered with studs... I'm assuming you don't have t-pieces? Also the engine is cool, but could use a bit more work, maybe some greebling around the sides... all in all 8/10... P.S. Pictures are great but a bit blurry... |

Very nice! I really like the effect, but the mech itself, in my opinion, could use some work. But I hope you score well in the competition- definitely a great idea! |

Nice shielding effect. You could have also added some neon cones to show the impacts :)
Yeah, I tried that, it looked a little over-done though. thanks for the comment! |
