About this creation
Hey, Mechanical Maelstrom here again after another long hiatus from building. That aside, I'm going to cut to the chase. As a person who likes Star Wars Legos (or really, this applies to all Lego in general), I love collecting minifigures. The Clone Battle packs in particular are key in the acquisition of minifigures (or at least the same minifigures, but in droves). However, the battle packs do not only contain the minifigures, but also pieces and instructions for a Republic scout walker! However, after the second (or maybe the first) scout walker, they become less interesting. Unless you are the kind of person who likes having a multitude of the same model (I'm not saying I don't, though), you may want to mix it up a little. This is precisely what I hope to accomplish in this "Battle Pack Project". The goal is to use parts from the battle packs and as less foreign parts as possible. I will mainly be using the 2008/09 Clone Battle packs, but I wouldn't be surprised to get some rebel/empire/droid packs incorporated as well.

I should warn you, though, this first intro is a bit long.

Let's start with taking a brief look at the stock model.

"You talkin' to me?"

The side missiles are one per side, with a nice little trans. neon orange wedge.

I generally will be using the same leg, foot, and "driving wheel wedge" design for a few models after this one.

Now, onto the first modification... *Drumroll* ...The Missile Mod! This first one is a very small modification, only adding an extra missile to each side (you have to raise it with a plate first!) and moving around some of the side bits.

The missiles. Note that there is a 2x1 flat hinge beneath the rocket holder. Any 2x1 flat will do, but it is very much needed for the second missile.

You may have noticed that some of the side bits moved around. I moved 1 2x1 smooth flat on each side to hold the two "wing flats" together.

I now move onto the second and final mod for this post. This walker is a type of bipedal Payload walker, in that it has something that needs to be delivered to a certain place. In this case, the payload is weapons.

There is solely the front laser for protection, so this is a fairly vulnerable walker. And, believe it or not, it is not off balance at all! In fact, the payload counterbalances the front, which is always leaning foreward.

Side and payload

Closeup on the revamped cockpit. The very front is less protected, but the back protection is bolstered.

Cockpit protection removed.

The connection that connects the main body and the payload. The main body design can be recycled for many payload types.

Payload separated.

Payload dropped

Well, that wraps up the first part of The Battle Pack Project! Comments, suggestions, and criticism are always appreciated.

You should add this MOC to the Star Wars modified battle packs group. I used one of your modifications in my modified Clone Walker (I credited you of course).
