U.F.O.lien spacecenter
Type: Spacecenter
Technical term: Gaiarius-class
Number: 12 known
Length: 15km
Width: 15km
Height: 30km
Population: about 2,5 million
Important departments: Governmental high hall, trade and communication center, Laughing-Orion- funpark, 3 imperial shipyards

As answer to the increasing overpopulation of U.F.O.lien citizen in their starempire with only a few colonizable systems, the Gaiarius spacestations are the most important backbones of their empire. Their use are multifarious, so these cities-in-space are the first adresses for visitors, merchants, diplomats and new settlers.

Gaiarius III is located in a green nebula expanding through the Hak’firi system. Its official location after U.F.O.lien starmaps is sector 3-2-0-0-0,56-1,7. The station is divedid in 3 sections: The lowest “energy tower” is a large part of the station’s fusion reactor and also holds communication relais, scan-devices, radiation cleaners and many other high dangerous stuff that shouldn’t be aside people.

The lower section is primarly used by the staff, industry and military. 4 shipyards and several secret hangar bays are protected behind thick walls. Secret agencies assume several hundred scarab-fighters and other warships set only for station protection. Aside, giant plasma cannon towers can be found on strategic important places, making the spacecenter also a well-protected fortress if needed. Engines, private and governmental factories, waste disposal and a lot of cargo halls can be found in a giant labyrinth of corridors. A tourist shouldn’t try to discover this side of the station because crime and homelessness live in forgotten areals, too.

One of the normal hangar bases hidden along the lower section.

The upper section is the bright side of Gaiarius III. Like all U.F.O.lien space stations only the floor was constructed at beginning. Later, a complete city has developed where civil organisations, departments, agencies, families, nearly everything from all parts of space put their individual touch into the station society. So, every Gaiarius station is unique in appearance.
Side the gun towers, this upper part is protected by extra strong shields.

Beautiful architecture can be noticed in tourist’s quarter. For example the Sho’wo’kahn tower for rich people, the cheap hotel “Blacktronia 2” or the impressive dome of the “Laughing Orion funpark”.

Different, the worker and U.F.O.lien family living area. Here you can still see some old modular houses build in the first colonization waves.

Over the “Great Canyon”, which connects the upper world with the cargo docks inside the station, the biggest building is build. The C.T.V.Center (Communication Trading and Visiting) is the heart of life and also the “spaceport” for arriving and leaving space ships, shuttles and messages. The complete travel is organized here, so an elevator connects the center with the merchant halls in the lower section.

Of course, official departments, agencies and interstellar embassies have their locations in the central tower. Here a short look into one of the control rooms of the inner security.

Not far away, the shopping and freetime mall with dozens of restaurants, shops, casinos, theaters, brothels and bars is inviting everybody from every species to have fun and increase the empire’s treasures.

We’re visiting the “Drunken Spaceskull Club”, not the saftiest place but it’s very popular by the native aliens with its special flair.

24hours open, you’ll always get what you want to forget your name, life and money. A cardassian sunrise, romulan ale, Sirrushian beer, Skaboor-milk or Coca-Cola, our barkeeper knows all exotic drinks existing or not. If it’s not existing he will make it that.

“Hi! I’m Terrance McDoogal. And this is a great place for every tourist. There’s nothing you desire you can’t find here for money...”

“O la la...”

“Hey, did you look at my girlfirend, pervert?”
“Yes, of course, she’s a, i mean no...i...”
“Come here, i’ll slit your throat...”

The modern skyscrapers belong to the financial area. Big companies have choosen Gaiarius III as their office place because the U.F.O.lien starempire is neutral to most other factions while still in a central location. Especially merchant caravans between former C.O.P. territories and Maox controlled space use the trans-shipment center, so most local buisness contracts are made in the rooms of these towers.

The “Red Akurrian Tower” is used by only the richest persons and celebrities. Named after John Samuel Akurrian, who seems to be important but nobody really knows who that is, the hotel offers luxus appartments. Also its location is luxury. Next to the Akurrian plaza, the giant Akurrian emerald can be visited or also the emperor’s high hall.

The emperor’s high hall is just one of many governmental buildings in U.F.O.lien space. In fact the emperor could live there but nobody really knows in which he is. Every high hall is connected with each other by a holocon-platform. This way, people can talk to the emperor without the risk to reveal his position.

Down the “Canyon” the giant fusion power plant delivers the energy for the whole station. Specific information about technology is, like nearly everything in U.F.O.lien culture, top-secret and can’t be revealed to outsiders.

- Gaiarius III is the main moc of Ep.14 “Battle of Gaiarius III” in my series The U.M.R.C.-project
