Neo Broadside
Triple changer Broadside is a Transformers character from the 1980s. Transforms into an aircraft carrier or a jet (no kidding!)
About this creation

Broadside is a character from G1 Transformers from the 1980s. He is
a triple changer but both his alternate modes are kind of paradoxical to
each other. He turns into an aircraft carrier or a jet. As a jet, if he
wants to land somewhere in the middle of the ocean... he can turn into
the carrier so he can waitjuzaminute..... there's no need for him to
land anymore since he's now a freaking aircraft carrier!

Main weapon:  Fry (robotic) enemies circuits and
drive human bonkers with his perplexing modes

As someone who loves triple changer... he used to be one of  my
fave (in the catalog that is!) But the real toy (above) left much to be
desired. He's one of the very few almost-pure brick-like G1 transformer
toy. But I decided to do him justice by rebuilding in using many more (lego)
bricks! yay! And I found out his carrier mode is USS Nimitz. Wow factor
x1000. I used to own packs of game/picture cards of various
vehicles ( where players used to compare by picking one of the spec with
the card other player holds). And for the pack with ships in it , Nimitz
trumps them all with most of its specs.
This took me weeks after weeks of rebuilding. Notable frustrations:

  • I nearly gone mad trying to get the diagonal runway lines
correct using lego plates. Especially with certain parts needs
    turning and twisting.

  • Attempted to hide the "protuding" carrier control deck in the
jet mode. (initially it was more towards center but I was not

  • Failed attempt to add fixtures to the control deck  (like a
radar dish) but it hinders the transformation to jet mode

  • The tailfin/rudder of the jet mode is a bitch also..especially
there is no such thing as a light-grey 2x4 hinge plate pair.

  • Hiding the jet cockpit in carrier mode hindered the robot arms
from being tucked in nicely as the hull... that's why I have to make
sacrifices.. hence he has no thumbs.

  • Both wings are heavy and slant down in jet mode.

Aircraft Carrier Mode

That's the tiniest Transformer Jet
I can find in my collection.

Ain't too pretty under the belly :P
Transformation to Jet

Jet Mode

Transformation to Robot

Faster to start transforming from
the carrier mode (like the back half of the jet)
Robot Mode

I think he has Cybertronian Viking-oid circuits running in his body, and it shows in his mode and
his weapon.. a rifle which doubles as an axe, in case he ran out of

There's a few more carrier pics in brickshelf which I failed to upload there.

Amazing! All three modes look spectacular, much better than hasbro or any other company could pull off! Wow!

Quoting Dallan Ledford I made this just by the pics you took of it, and it's an awesome transformer, except it keeps falling apart like a lump of dirt.....still cool though!
I'm impressed you can build the body with limited photos I have provided here. The parts doesn't fall apart for me, but posability are hindered though with the huge wings.
