Onsen (Japanese Hot Spring)
Nothing says "Japan" like viewing Mt. Fuji from a natural hot spring. Civilization at its finest.
About this creation
This was my first ever MOC. I built it about a month ago. I planned it all out on MLCAD, and my wife was able to assemble it following my instructions (after being kind enough to let me go over my monthly budget to build it). Me dun gud! Yay!

I live in Japan, and I absolutely love going to the onsen. One day it just struck me that it would be perfect to recreate in Lego. I am planning to make this one modular so that I can increase the amenities of the onsen.

I had no idea how hard it was to acquire naked minifigures.

Again, I will provide better photos of this once I can get my hands on a sweeter camera.

The mountain mosaic is nicely done. Wish I could get my wife to build something...~H

Very cool! Love the window mosaic especially! Don't give up on that camera yet...maybe we could banter about a few suggestions for!

Who said nobody cared about onsen? I absolutely love them! Unfortunately I don't live in Japan, so it's rather a rare thing for me. I read the info on your homepage, and to be honest, I'm totally excited as to what else you come up with. Ganbatte ne~

Ancient Rome had a similar concept for public bathing. Good job!

Yes and No. A long time ago, a great deal (if not most) onsen were co-ed. Nudity was not really a "problem" in Japan until the Portuguese missionaries landed in Kyushu in the 16th century. Then again it became an "issue" with the westernizing of Japan during the Meiji Restoration of the 19th century. While nudity is a still a much more relaxed concept here, most onsen are strictly segregated by gender. Though you still find co-ed onsen here and there, especially where one has just sprung up in a river. But that doesn't really matter, because the onsen are about bathing, and not about horizontal recreation. Since most of the women who go to onsen daily tend to be senior citizens, it is not likely going to rev your engine (unless you have a Vizinczey view of older women). Thanks for the rating and comment. Glad you liked it.

Very cool! Please excuse my ignorance, but are ladies allowed in the onsen? I'd be creepy if it's all guys ... XD . Also, what is interesting is that your wife built it. 10/5 points to her!
