A transformable Police AEGAKS for Emergency Point of Contact Response in civilian locations.
Contest Entry: Civilian Category 18/20
About this creation

Captain: "Jake, don't touch my weapon's rack. What you got for us, Hash?"
Hash: "Well, Cap'n, this is a dispatch from the military liason. About our request for AEGAKS support."
Jake: "Really? What'd they say?"
Hash looks at the data panel he's holding.
Hash: "It says here that there's sending us a newly developed AEGAKS model."
Jake: "YEha! I can't wait to try one!"

Captain: "No way! Remember what you did last month when you asked to go on patrol with a cycle?"
Jake (startled): "Yes sir."
Hash: "They included a demo reel, cap'n."
Captain: "Good. Play it."

This is the AEGAKS-104-VWh "Geras". This model was specifically designed for use in civilian environments for the quick defensive response to ensure civilian safety.

The Geras is a heavily armored AEGAKS, though lightly armed. Unlike military models, the Geras does not have elbow mounted beamsabres, as these are a miltary weapon.

Note the heavily reinforced powercell with rotor engine assemblies. Also unlike military models, the powercell does not eject should the pilot be forced to ditch the Geras.

The Geras is equipped with 8 low-yield rockets, mounted on the shoulders, an SMG for use against other mecha and vehicles, a right arm mounted dual harpoon gun with tow cables, and a left arm mounted mecha sized night stick for hand to hand combat.

Designed to be a variable AEGAKS for dual purpose...

Jake snatched the data panel.
Jake: "A variable AEGAKS!?! How cool is that?!"
Hash: "This kid is just asking for trouble."
Captain: "OOgle is later, Jake. Let it finish."
Jake: "Sorry cap'n."

... as a law enforcement mecha and a fast response chopper. The SMG is stored under the pilot block which then is fed from a magizine located there as a chin mounted gun. The arms fold up to form weapons pods from which the rockets and harpoons can be fired.

Once the arms have folded up, the rotor engines fold up into place, and lift the Geras off the ground. These engines are extremely powerful and should be well maintained.

Once airborne, the legs of the Geras straighten and lock position to become the back fuselage of the Helicopter mode. The head goes offline, and rotates back to provide a streamlined surface. The engines on the back of the legs that act as jump engines in mecha form now serve as foreward propulsion.

In Helicopter mode, the Geras is extremely fast and agile, able to get to a location to defend it fast than any other current AEGAKS.

Sides of the Geras' feet fold out to stabilize flight, and can be used to manuever the Geras through turns.

Seen here, the night stick in use. It simple clamps to the left forearm, where its size and location make it extremely useful as an antenna extension, giving the Geras unparalleled ability to punch through enemy comm jamming.

There is a large Thud outside, and the room shakes lightly. Jake falls against the Weapons rack, spilling the guns. The captain's chair and lamp are over turned.

Captain sets his chair and lamp up again as Hash and Jake correct themselves.
Captain: "I thought I told you not to touch that rack, Jake."
Jake: "Sorry cap'n. What was that?"
Hash: "They're knocking down buildings too damaged to leave standing. There was a lot of damage from the last attack."
Captain: "Well, now that's settled, start it up again."

Should the pilot have need to eject, the pilot block is equipped as is all AEGAKS with ejection charges. The powercell however is not ejectable, and will most likely destroy the Geras in the event of a power overload.

A close up of the Geras' pilot block. Note the Police markings and ID number.

Hash: "According to this, we need to meet the liason in a couple of hours. We should get going."
Jake: "I can't wait to see these up close! IT'S GOING TO BE SO COOL!!!"
Captain: "Alright, you're both dismissed then."
Both salute. Jake rushes out.
Captain: "Hash. Don't let Jake get inside one of those things."
Hash: "Yes Captain."
Creator's Notes and Bonus Pictures

I actually drew this model up before the contest started and wrote down what I wanted to add to it. IT was a very rough sketch made during work so I wouldn't forget the Idead. All in all, I'd have to say it was very successful.
Little Blue's pilot block, the prototype AEGAKS, was actually meant as a Helicopter cockpit, so I guess it's gone full circle now.

The Geras posing in helicopter mode next to an ESC Arrow VTOL Gunship. The Arrow had a lot of things that influenced the design of the Geras.
One extra note. I didn't take any pictures of the Geras frame, due to time issues and to complexity. I will attempt to add these later.

Too cool. Love everything about this mech, and the detachable cockpit is a nice touch. If this thing didn't win, it should have. |

This is a really great mech. I like the story and the way you introduced the functions of the model, instead of plainly stating it. The design is amazing, and I would be blown away with it being just the helicopter or the mech. But with the ability to transform, the function makes this mech top-notch. Really great work. keep on building!
Thanks for the feedback. It was a real challenge to work out, but in the end it turned out well. Been considering other possible variables. |

AWESOME transformer!!! It looks like a wasp in the last picture. Are you going to make any other transformer AEGAKS?
The AEGAKS 109 is a transformer that changes between a fast agile four legged form and a bipedal soldier. I also have plans for an amphibious soldier unit much further in the future, among other plans that I will not disclose just yet. |

Wow, a truly amazing design and build, well done indeed! out of curiosity, what do you sue for the prop casings? they look superb!
They're actually made using the Exo Force joint. I used two ball click halves together, so that one of the pegs holds the turbofan and then built around that with arced wedges. I'll see about doing a break down for you. |

wow, nice mech dude. it loosly reminds me of the mechs from robotech in guardian mode
Yeah, I noticed that too. It was not intended that way, but what can you do? I was pleased with the transformation function, and I did draw a little from the VFs for inspiration for the legs. |

Well I'm still blessed with 20/20 vision - enough so to look past the couple blurries. I say 5 PTS. It could be a tad generous but, come on - IT TRANSFORMS! When I first saw that in the title I was like "Yeah, right." But you did it, man, like a pro. |
|
Studly looking mech! Good design, nice colors, the transforming bit is a pure bonus, so why do you only get a 4 from me? Presentation was weak. Blurry photos hurt these old eyes. 4 points. |
