About this creation

But he needn’t have worried because he woke with a start. A huge bellowing roar the reverberated and echoed through the cave rang out and caused every member of the team to sit bolt upright.

Blast grabbed his pistols that lay next to him and leapt up, aiming around the cave.

It was daytime and outside the blizzard had almost completely stopped. Sun shone down on the snow creating a beautiful, dazzling shimmer and sparkling effect.

The sun also shone right into the cave and hit the back wall, revealing something that they had failed to notice in the dark the night before. In one of the back corners was a fairly large opening that lead into a dark tunnel.

Blast frowned as the sound came again. He aimed into the almost pitch-black tunnel; the light only penetrated a few meters into it, afraid to venture any further.

The cave around them shook and a few people looked up at the roof as a few small stones tumbled down. Everyone was on their feet now, all looking at the tunnel entrance.

“Everyone pick up your stuff.” Blast said without looking away from the tunnel. “Quickly.” He prompted and everyone grabbed their gear, put their packs on their backs and held their weapons.

Blast quickly glanced over his shoulder at them all.

Then the loudest roar yet shook them all and a huge, white mass of fur and teeth appeared in the entrance. Blast’s eyes grew huge under his helmet and he yelled “WAMPA!”

The Wampa roared as it was fired upon by Blast who stood pulling at his triggers for all he was worth. “Out!” he shouted to the others. “Get out!”

They obeyed and turned running and stumbling from the cave back into the snow while their leader still fired at the beast.

The Wampa batted the air with one of its huge paws, and roared at Blast who stepped back.

“FLARES!” Padfoot yelled from the cave entrance and Blast looked round just in time to see 3 small rockets screeching towards him emitting a trial of red sparks.

He dived to the ground and the flares whizzed overhead

and exploded right by the Wampa. It roared and backed up into the tunnel.

Blast sat up and quickly reached down into his pouch, pulled out a detonator

and lobbed it with all his strength at the beast.

The Wampa raised an arm but just at the wrong time…
The detonator sailed straight into its hand and exploded.
BOOM! Flames flickered outwards from the exploding shell and grabbed hold of the hand holding their prison. They licked all the way up the arm at an immense speed, burning and inflaming as they went. Then they jumped across the short gap between the arm and the face and latched hold.

The Wampa screamed in pain as it was thrown backwards, it’s arm in shreds and half it’s face blown off. It crashed onto it’s back in the tunnel entrance, sending up a cloud of dust, it’s head hidden in the darkness.

When the bomb had exploded, R.K. had turned whilst still sitting and dropped onto his front, covering his head with his arms.

Once the shower of scorched fur had ended he lifted one of his arms and peered underneath it at the tunnel. He stood up and brushed himself off.

“Is it dead?” he heard Jelli shouting from the cave mouth. R.K. walked slowly over to the corpse and kicked a stone at it. When it didn’t move he called back,

“Few! That was a close one!” one of the troops laughed as the rest of the team walked back into the cave to join him.
“Where do you suppose it goes?” Vasilious asked R.K., looking down the tunnel. R.K. didn’t reply.
“Blast?” Jelli prompted.

“Hopefully all the way.” He said at last and Jelli frowned. Hess and Padfoot looked at each other and shrugged in unison
“O.K. Team lets go. From now on, it’s underground.” R.K. said and stepped round the dead Wampa into the tunnel followed after a couple of seconds by the rest of the confused team.
