LDS Washington D.C. Temple
The second LEGO Replica of this size - the LDS Washington D.C. Temple. My parents wouldn't let me take apart the LEGO Nauvoo Temple once it had been built, so that started some kind of trend in keeping my replicas in one piece. It also started a brief passion with LARGE structures, and this was made clear the Christmas after I built the LEGO Nauvoo Temple, and I received a full-color book on the LDS Washington D.C. Temple...complete with blueprints. Hint, hint. And to make things even better, my sister was getting married that year at that very temple, so it offered me the chance to fly out and get some pictures of the real thing to make it a little easier on me when it came to the laborious task of planning and laying out the foundation (always the hardest step in building ANY LEGO replica of an existing edifice. This LEGO temple was much planned much better than Nauvoo and made use of fewer LEGO bricks inside for structure support. That said, the roof is still strong enough to support the weight of a 200 lb. man. This replica has a neat element to it - Christmas lights laced up into each of the two main towers so the light shines through the glass, much like the real version does. This replica stands about 3 feet tall at Moroni's statue.

Thanks, Natalie. I appreciate the honest feedback. I do not have plans for any of the large-scale models, unfortunately. However, I have spoken with another LEGO enthusiast who used my model as a pattern to copy and improve upon, and he does have plans for his. E-mail me at johnsonfambly@yahoo.com, and I will put you in touch with him, if you like. I do also have the plans for the Mini LEGO DC Temple, if that interests you. Check it out on this MOC website.

I love this!! Do you have instructions for it? I love LEGO and would love to make it. DC is where we were married 15 years ago!

Quoting Dan Oliver My son is getting sealed in the DC temple in August. I build model buildings (doll houses is a common term) I want to build him a replica of the temple. What is the book with the blueprints??
Dan - please send me your personal email address so I can email you scanned copies of the blueprints from the book. I have searched online for the book and can't find it anywhere, so this is the best alternative. Thanks! - Andrew (johnsonfambly@yahoo.com)

Andrew, I never get tired of looking at these temples. Glad to see that you have built a mini model of the SL Temple. Keep them coming!

Wow, two for one in that last shot! Have you considered making the San Diego Temple? That one would be glorious.

Quoting Tim Gibson Looks really accurate to me, although all I've seen of it is what can be seen from the beltway. Keep up the great work. I also like to keep my creations together and not take them apart.
Thank you. My sister was married there, so I got a good look at it from a lot of different angles to try for a realistic creation. :-)
