About this creation
The 5AT is a 3000 horsepower, 115mph modern steam locomotive, designed by british engineer David Wardale in the late 1990's. If you have never heard of this machine it is because it only exists on paper.

See 5at.co.uk for more information.

The model itself is built in tradtional DB livery, as the color schemes presented in offcial 5AT artwork is not practical to work with in Lego (Yellow drivers? Blue drivers?). It is in full 7 wide, with working drivers on the two rear drivers, and full curve/switch compatability. I did not link all three drivers (With a blind center driver) because it creates excessive friction around turns and does not perform terribly well on switches. Furthermore the locomotive is capable of running at "speed 6" (According to the Lego regulator) without any derailment, etc.

This is probably the 3rd or 4th rebuild of the engine, in other words, I took it apart and rebuilt it 3 or 4 times, being unhappy with previous versions. The most difficult part of construction was the singe basic unit difference needed to have the old 12v train wheels line up correctly (heightwise) with the BBB drivers.

To bad this train does only exist on paper, because I love it. Cool creation. You have captured the Wardale's look extremely well.
