A daily log of my church's building of Solomon's Temple.
About this creation
The Backstory
Alright...here's what's going on. My church's mega-sized VBS is doing a Lego elective for the second year in a row and this year's giant project is a 50,000+ piece Solomon's Temple. The temple is supposed to be constructed Monday through Friday by 150+ kids and a handful a leaders. This is day three!
What We'll be Building
Here's a better look at what were building.
The Prep
So when I get there, I see and hear that the tan is in. Well, all the tan except the 2x4s, so that will be a problem.
Since the tan came in, we can now work on more things. A bunch of junior leaders crowd around the (insert name here) trying to work on a good design.
My friend Philip and I go to the free build area and start destroying the combinations/various creations to get ready for our "top secret project"
We finally get everything set up for the children.
The 1st Station - Morning
Alright, here's our top secret project! Fruits and Vegetables. Philip and I have created some examples to give the kids inspiration. See if you can identify the fruits and vegetables.
We put all kids' creations around the examples.
The 2nd Station - Morning
Although I was at free build the whole time,
I did go over to the non-lego section. Today they're making marshmallow and toothpick creations.
The 3rd Station - Morning
Nothing much happened during this period, so let's head off to lunch!
Lunch
Today's lunch includes a Turkey sub sandwich, sun chips, a yogurt, an apple, and a rice krispie treat! Yum! Favorite lunch so far.
I quickly made a tree for apples to be held on.
The temple quickly shot up in only a couple hours.
The 1st Station - Afternoon
Nothing much happened this time...
The 2nd Station - Afternoon
Nothing much happened this time...
The 3rd Station - Afternoon
The kids made a lot of fruits, vegetables, and trees!
I can see what this will turn out as already!
Hey, do you think you'd be able to make Golgotha next? I ran out of pieces so I only have Jesus' cross...
