The "Frauenkirche" (Chruch of our ladies) in Dresden was destroyed in World War II. After the reunification of Germany people decided to rebuild the church and use the parts which where found in the ruin. Reconstruction and fund raising startet in 1993. The reopening was in October 2005.
After a short visit in Dresden I decided to try to build this church in LEGO. The colours tan, old and new darkgrey for the exterieur and light yellow and white for the interieur seems to work perfect.
The chruch is 130 cm high in total, including the "Unterkirche" in the basement.
The actual building looks more like a Lego creation than your version. It has the only real building that I've ever seen with the random blocks of darker masonry that Lego introduced with its Fantasy Era castles.
Funny story. I was in Germany last year standing in front of this church in Dresden and knew I had see this before but how; since it was my first time in Germany? Then I realized it was your creation that I saw and I was looking at the real thing. That is how realistic your creation is. Truly remarkable. One the best MOC creations I have every seen in all categories on any Lego creators websites.
I think they ought to tear down the real one and replace it with yours ! Congrats on Motd! I probably might not have seen this masterpiece otherwise! Fantastic incredible marvelous outstanding awesomeness !!!!!
Absolutely huge, when you showed the first picture of the actuall church you left me wondering why the lego model was so big! I like the clock and the dome. The texture on the outside is great! Good build. =)
Thanks for MOTD and all your comments. 65 years ago, during the night from 13th to 14th Feb 1945 the real Frauenkirche in Dresden was destroyed during a WW II bombing. So today it's the 13th Feb again ...
My model shows the church how it looks like in 2005 when it was rebuild with new and old sandstone bricks.

All I can keep saying is, "WOW!!!" I love buildings and this model is totally amazing. I sure would love to ask you a bunch of questions about it and your building expertise. AWESOME!!!!! GREAT BUILD!!! WOW!!!!
I was one of the three-thousand lucky visitors that saw your art-work in Berlin at the 1000steineland. I saw you disassenbling and assembling this moc and it was incredible to get such a giant construction stiff and robust without any stabilising construction inside.
This one of the most amaizing buildings I've ever seen, inside and outside. You should go on, Dresden has much more fantastic buildings...

*Picks jaw up off the floor* amazing, up there with the best, keep of the good work. or improve, Imrovement is always an option! ;)
Absolutely Great!! When I see your fantastic MOC I wonder how you do to create these super-models. Do you have plans or drawings or do you only use photos for you design? Do you experiment and rebuild a lot before you get it right? Do you keep your model or do you take them apart after a while and reuse the parts? I wish I was in Berlin and saw your model. Keep on building!
