My first Moc in 25 years away from lego. I limited this build to creator set 6754 and a few of my very vintage bits. i was not happy with the look of the "market street", so built this as a proof of concept "free build" loosely based on typical inner Melbourne suburbs like Sydney rd Brunswick.
About this creation
Based on an old 24x32 base plate this allowed the break up of the street by adding a lane way or car park. And i did change the way the flags attach shortly after i took these photos. They now attach underneath the veranda by removing one of the 2x1 door rail plates., and it looks A LOT better.
A slight modification to the roof of the market was necessary to allow the roof to lift of past the sliding door of the upstairs office/living area.
The open archway was filled in with windows (some from windows and doors set). These Victorian style buildings feature ornate veranda posts , lattice work and decorative facades. But as i said i limited this build largely to set 6754.
The veranda is hinged and easily detaches when the 2nd floor is removed.
Quoting Nathan B
Great job, but an improvement could be to make that pavement the same pattern.
Thanks Nathan,As for the pavement , like i said this was pretty much limited to the creator set. However it is still a work in progress. Currently waiting for some bricklink stuff to turn up. As you are well aware, we aussie's are hard done by for lego variety and buying bits from overseas can be hellishly expensive. As for my vintage lego, mate i probably packed mine away before your parents even met, so my range and colour are almost caveman like compared to what's available now!!By the way do trains count as "town" stuff in your group? After all every lego town needs a railway to connect it to the next town.
