Alternative model made from pieces found in set 6747 "Race Rider" from 2009
About this creation
Some have called it a submarine. Others have called it a hover ship. Still others have said "No, it's a spaceship." Well, it might be any of those things, I can't say, but I do know this, it was fun to make, and my 7 year-old son loves to "swoosh" it around.
I have struggled a bit to make an alternate model from LEGO set 6747 "Race Rider". Cars are hard for me, but, as I have failed up to this point to make a decent Alternative MOC of one, motorcycles are even more of a road block. So, mainly to the the creative juices flowing, I just started to tinker around with the pieces in this set. Eventually, I ended up with what you see here.
The fun part about this model was figuring out how to capture the wheel hubs within the model so they wouldn't fall out when it is being played with. A couple versions were discarded before settling on this one.
I'll keep trying to make an alternative MOC of a motorcycle…perhaps set 4893 "Revvin' Riders" will produce better results.
I dig the way you integrated those hubs. Very nice!
It's funny that when I have problems building something in the same theme as the official model, it always ends up in some kind of spaceship. Likely this is because spaceships can have any size or shape as they can float in space with no physical law like gravity.
I also agree that especially (motor)bikes are not easy to build in LEGO.
