It all began with a witty anecdote regarding weevils. Prince Alfonso misunderstood his older brother, King Sancho's, joke and construde it as some back handed dig at himself. From there it escalated, hastily resulting in a massive rift throughout the kingdom and full out war (peppered with moments of reluctant neutrality).
The Kingdom was split in two smaller Kingdoms. A line was drawn down the middle of the map. Everything to the East was Alfonsos and everything to the Wes—yeah, you get it.
It wasn't until a while later that Sancho realised one of the state-of-the-art, multi-million... mullah "lookout facilities" he had recently had commissioned, lay right on the dividing line of the two newly formed Kingdoms. Alfonso realised this fact, too, at approximately the same time and was adamant that the project could not go ahead. Sancho couldn't be bothered with all the red tape and headache involved with securing a new location, so the two brothers agreed to meet and discuss the matter at hand.
After weeks of negotiation a compromise was met. The lookout facility would be shared between the forces of the two Kingdoms. The build would be completed in such a way to encompass both sides' liveries and design aesthetics.
Through back handed methods and sabotage, Alfonso's (Gold and Green) men are ensuring the facility has an overwhelming Alfonsian feel to it. (Sancho's men (Red and Gold) being bogged down with rediculous amounts of bureaucracy hasn't helped their progress, either.)
Alfonso's men. (Guy on the right is peeved his torch has gone out.)
Another of Alfonso's men.
These stones having been sitting here waiting for something to be done with them for longer than anyone can seem to remember.
That window'll look dapper once finished.
"Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?"
There's treasure in there, you'll just have to take my word for it.
Some kind of crude Armoury.
A hearth, inspired by a recent and rather funny joke of Jeff Faubles. [Insert obligatory sexist remark about a woman's place...] Apparently baby dragons are a delicacy in these parts.
For play features: there is a giant snuffer, for pretending to snuff the pretend flames out with. FUN!
A Sanchoian messenger approaches the facility, men from both sides await his arrival, the Alfonsians knowing the likelihood of the news pertaining to them, as well as the Sanchoians.
Here's all the unused pieces "layed out", notice how the larger pieces have seemed to find themselves at the top of the pile... um, yeah...
Thanks for your complimentary words and honesty, Heath. I completely agree with you. When I first read the category I was over the moon, as I usually love this kinda thing, but it just never seemed to click for me, on this one. Hopefully I'll be able to step it up in terms of creativity and imaginativeness in the next round and I'm grateful to the judges for giving me that chance.
Luke....you and I squared off last year. You won with a beautiful and very interesting entry. I felt very honored to lose to you. So please don't take this in a disrespectful way. I feel this was a weak entry for you. The reason why I say that is that you have shown so much imagination to me over the past year or more that I find this entry to be more along the lines of a LEGO group set. The majority of which I find to be boring and not very thought provoking. You my friend have the power to create some of the most amazing builds, and I just don't see it here. I say that out of much respect, and I hope you understand what I'm trying to convey here. Congrats on the win....but I look forward to seeing you step it up in the next round!
I kinda wish I'd have had this category, it would have given me a real good reason to buy two new sets! Good work on this artist formerly known as Luke Chapman, nice that you threw in a good story to spice it up a bit too. I'm looking forward to your round 3 entry!
Awesome. I love the "playability" feature, as well as the details. Great photography as always, and congrats on the advance. Were in the same group # though, could get ugly in the following rounds. Anyway, I hope to have my entry up soon. -Sam
Haha, nice one! Sorry about the main page paranoia thing. I didn't expect others to be as insanely paranoid as I am 0.o
Anywho, this is a great concept, and a fine entry! Best of luck, good sir, best of luck!
