I'm toying with the idea of starting a new comic (one with an irregular release schedule) set aboard the battlecruiser Shenandoah and incorporating some ideas I came up with in my space pirates universe. The photos below show a minimicrodangthat'steeny scale moc of the Shenandoah -- it's pretty much finished, although I may re-imagine it before taking the comic into the production phase.
Here's a shot of the back end, with genuine simulated intensely hot exhaust venting into space!
Here we are on the still-underconstruction bridge. Behind me is the main view screen. To your left is Shenandoah's main weapons control center and to your right is the navigation/sensory array con.
Over here is fleet operations control, the main link between the Shenandoah and any of her deployed fighter squadrons.
And this is the Science and Life Support operations hub.
Here we are in one of the many passageways running throughout the ship.
Obviously, I'm still getting ideas together and trying to decide how the thing will look. The question on all of your minds is this: Will it be funny? Is he ripping off Legostar Galactica/Tranquility Base/Star Trek/Babylon 5/Far Out Space Nuts? Well, we'll see. I'm doing this because I have some space type stuff I'd like to actually use rather than have sitting in tubs going to waste because I've been described as a crappy builder. Well, I'm hoping that this proposed comic will prove that maybe I'm not a great builder, but I can tell a story now and again.
looks good. one idea i just had: include a spoof/mockery of halo somewhere in the story. how you do it is definatly up to you, but i think there should be a halo reference somewhere in it. can't wait to see the new comic, i definatly love glomshire.

Dennis first off i don't know anybody who would call you a krappy builder, i mean your stuff is great, on to the comic, theres alot you can do, maybe you could make it so the ship has run out of fuel in space, and theres maybe 10-20 people on board, and they have to survive, and then they finally find land and you continue on a planet. Or maybe you could make it be about a group of bounty hunters who go around different planets, and try to hunt down villians~Nick
Ooooo,I'm really really looking forward to this! Those sets look absolutely fantastic! I love the last photo with Deathdog standing in the passageway, it makes me very excited. Can't wait to meet the characters! Oh and that mini ship is so cute! Boy, that is one intensely hot exhaust venting you got going on there! I too am designing my own comic strip that will begin after I've finished my test comic strip "the Quest" You just continue to inspire me, Dennis!
To boldly go where no man has gone ..... hang on, wrong story..... where was I..... Oh yes... space pirates sound great and no I don't thinks it's going to be a rip off, just make it your own. Look forward to the first part. Oh before I forget I do not think you are a "crappy builder" as "SOME PEOPLE" say, you just have your own style. Happy building.
Well at this stage it is an blank canvas waiting for just the right script I guess. Perhaps it may be an idea to throw it out to the community to see what they want?
Set up a poll/vote with say 5 options. Pigs in Space anyone?
This looks fantastic! I bet many people will be inspired when they come to this page! I know I am! Now Dennis, I want to make a comic and I have an idea, but I wanted to know how you made Glomshire Knights, things like inspiration, the dialogue, the storyline, etc etc. Thanks!
