Well, I finally became inspired, and finally got to making it, this is Fykia, the Entity of Seaweed.
About this creation
So the object of the contest is to create a...creation representing your phobia, or fear. My fear is seaweed, since there's no real word for fear of seaweed, I had to go with "phytophobia", which does mean fear of plants, but for now, it means fear of seaweed, because I'm not afraid of plants.
I guess I'm not afraid of the actual seaweed, I simply get freaked out when I feel it coil around my leg while I'm swimming in a lake. I'm not sure why, maybe it's some primal instinct...
Anyways, onto the build.
His four legs.
A side shot,
A back shot, you can see his seaweed-y tentacles waving from his arms and back....*shudder*
His torso, I decided to throw some tan in there to represent sand.
His dominant claws.
And his beady eyed stare, waiting for innocent swimmer-bys to idly float across his slithering appendages, and get pulled into the depths of his sinkhole.
Another shot of his legs, for whatever reason.
In case you're wondering I made the seaweed by taking a thick end of a tentacle, sticking in a four long wand in in, and clipping 4 or 5 hands onto the end in a random pattern.
A neck/shoulders shot.
And a close-up side shot of his torso, I have to admit, I didn't go fantastically on covering up the sides with armor, but I think it adds to his loose look.
Here's a quick scale picture, he's just around 11 inches.
So, I guess that concludes it, once I set my brain to it, and had that idea in my head, it was amazing fun to create the creature of my nightmares!
There are only several days left, but if you think you can make it, the contest hasn't ended, and you could still enter here .
Very nicely done! I can really see this in a murky lake bottom.... yikes! Seaweed (or any gorp in the water for that matter) scares the daylights out of me so I can definitely relate with this build! Great job on the coloring. The tentacles and armor are very well built. Peace ~ Packie
