Cobi toys shark boat. (non LEGO)
The Cobi toys "shark" boat is an interesting little non LEGO model made in Poland. It has enough generic parts that it can be built into several different things from one set, and enough specialized parts to make it interesting. Unfortunately, exposed injection points mar the fit and finish of this otherwise LEGO compatible model.
About this creation

Front view. note that the leading edge of the sloped bricks is taller than a true LEGO block. For the most part, the blocks fit together to the standards expected by an AFOL. the only problems occurred with the exposed plastic injection points. scratching at them with a thumbnail took care of the problem. each dot has COBI embossed on it.

Back view. The propeller looks like it could be used for a WWII airplane.

The minifigure is a different color, AND HAS A NOSE! His legs don't fit well.

Special bricks. TOP: flat wings. ROW 2. The arms that hold the pontoons slope gently. The engine is well detailed. ROW 3: Propeller and guns. At first glance, the guns look to be an AK47 variant, but they lack a stock and the front sight is backward. The gas tube is not exposed like on 99.9% of all AK variants. It is not a Polish TANTAL rifle either. I checked. ROW 4: The airplane styled steering wheel and three views of the unique brackets.

Instructions look like mega blocks. Computer rendered pictures.

Initial play showed that these blocks are compatible with LEGO. the handles of the guns fit loosely, but not so loose they fall out.

Fun fact: though the Polish military has served faithfully and honorably with us in GWOT, Poland continues to get ignored by the US govt. What a raw deal!

Hmm. Well, Cobi does make some quality copies, eh? The problem I have Witt these knock offs are that, say, take that flat wing piece. It's a brilliant concept, but the browne color, it looks so, generic. Lego has probably ten different shades of brown, which all look better. So while this brand had several interesting parts, I still vote for a totally purist MOC, made from Lego.
