I actually made this a while back, but haven't had the chance to post this 'till now.

Great looking assasin probe, love how more come out after the main structure is destroyed. As for your question concerning how I made the purple background, I did GIMP it. What I did is shoot the pictures on a regular white background. Then, (I didn't do this on that creation, but I should have) on the top bar go to colors>auto>White balance. This helps all the pictures' white balance to be the same, making them look better, like I said I didn't do this because I forgot, but the pictures would have looked better if I had. Next, (this is a little time consuming) I selected the whole white background around the mech (including all those pesky little nooks and crannies in the build) and selected colors>colorize. I then moved the sliders around until found a color I liked. I recorded the numbers on each of the sliders to use on the other pictures (for consistency). I also cropped too. The selecting takes a lot of patience, the wand tool is good for using around the large white parts, but the free select tool I like to use for more precision around the nooks and crannies I was talking about. Make sure you don't overdo a photo, otherwise it will look odd, I made that mistake a few times. The good part is that the shadows are part of the selection; you don't have to do anything special to them. If you did, I wouldn't have done the purple background. Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it. If you have any further questions, you can contact me (if you are a member of the G.O.P., which I think you are, it's best to do it that way). Good luck! ~Waff |

Great connections. Consider photographing black against black, it brings out subtle details. Nice work.
Thanks, I'll try that. |
