Creation Day Four: Sun & Moon
This stained glass panel is the first in a new series of panels about the creation story.
About this creation
This trans Lego stained glass mosaic, measuring 15x28", is based on the stained glass window "Creation: Day Four" at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Bilton, Rugby, England. The original window was designed by artist Aidan McRae Thomson in 1998-9.

This is the first in a series of five panels based on the creation story that I'm working on, hopefully to exhibit as a pentych at Brickworld 2011 in Wheeling, Illinois. (I'm already halfway through the second panel as of this posting!)

First exhibited at Lego KidsFest: Chicago, October 29-31, 2010.

I Love Stain Glass Windows, And At First I Thought This Was One, But Then I Realized It's Actually Made Of Lego.

Yes, those would be the original windows that I based these on! Right now, my reasons for only doing the first five are primarily limitations of time and budget! Right now, it takes me about a month to do each one, and I need to get everything finished, framed, and stands made by June. The theme of the 2011 Brickworld convention is also "Five," which doesn't hurt, either. (I've also been puzzling over how to appropriately render the human figures in the final day as well -- if I finish the sixth panel, I want to make sure I can do them all justice!)

This is gorgeous. Why a series of five and not six? Are you basing the whole series on the windows in Sacred Heart Church (some googling helped me find the originals: ), or are you using different inspirations as source material for each day? This is going up on my blog GodBricks, btw, as did your previous stained glass window:

Fantastic, and I love how you used the trans parts pegs to create a slightly darker colour, like in the sun for instance.

At first I thought I was looking at a peg-type mosaic, which would be cool enough, but to use the trans/colored bricks like this--Wow! Excellent approach!

November 16, 2010 THAT is awesome. Really cool to see such a unique (and well executed) MOC amidst so many common subjects and building approaches. Nice work!

Really unique. First Lego 'stained glass' I've ever seen. I have a Lego community site: and you are welcome to post your MOCs there. Our members would enjoy seeing them.
