In a time when the Romans ruled the Earth, and gravity was not yet discovered, the Golden City was the capital of the Roman seas.
Built on a rock in the Centurial Ocean, only to be reached by boats.
About this creation
We go through the mists, and slowly a light shows up in the darkness. The harbor of Aurea Civitas appears, and we see the gates with the large lighthouse.
To enter the city, we go through the rock. In a tunnel system which is age-old.
The central building is the temple of Zeus, also called the "Great Dome".
At the square in front of the temple, we see a large statue of the first new Roman Emperor: "Traionius XVI". It's on a scale 10:1.
The west side of the city, with the large Colosseum is dedicated to sports and relaxation. The Thermae are also located here.
The Colosseum supports over 25.000 people. The large cup is the place for the Olympic Flame.
One of the two guard towers which will attack enemy ships. They will fire at will, so beware!
A grid full of pictures that do not add a lot to the MOC. But I added them anyway.
Fourth brick commentary:
This was really fun to build. I also liked to create a ridiculous history around it. I think building an entire Capital on a 8x8 plate is the most wangle I can create. Also, it was a chance to show off my newly bought gold bricks.
Just to be sure: A link to the group
P.S. "Aurea Civitas" is Latin for "Golden City".
Wow simply amazing. I love the general concept potrayed in such a small build. I would love to make a movie or game someday that had this as a visitable city in it. The feeling of awe would be tremendous. Someday I may just ask your permision to use this idea XD
Hmmm... this is fantastic. Great use of all the gold pieces and the Colosseum really stood out at me. One concern I expressed on another entry is the lack of minifigure action, but I'm not about to penalize anybody on a technicality, it would go against the spirit of the contest (in all it's vagueness)
