AOS Turrets
“Back… to the future!”
About this creation

After a few medieval creations, it's back to cliché military sci-fi! Even though I like medieval better, it’s so hard for me to build… I’m just better at picturing and making sci-fi technology than fantasy castles.

You might recognize this gun from my City Street diorama/bignette/whatever. While it looks like an AA gun and can serve as a short-range AA gun, it is primarily a point-defense anti-missile/bomb gauss rifle.

Normally lasers would’ve been used, but they cannot function for anti-aircraft use, since they are useless against shielded objects.

Now to the new stuff. Radar emplacement…

VTF (Vertical Tracking Fire) mortars. These mortars use a very interesting explosive compound that is designed to be unusually dense, giving it some of the properties of a HEAT round. The VTF part means that the mortar flies up, then rockets down, allowing it to fire over buildings and obstacles as does, well, a mortar.

Good old SAMs. These are the primary AA emplacements.

And the S/M-9 MHMG. While not technically fixed in location, it is pretty darned difficult to move. These guns are good against infantry and light armor, and can be computer-controlled, though a skilled gunner is more accurate.

The Intergalactic Bureau of Standards is happy to provide a terran marine in AOS combat armor for scale.

Anywell.* Thanks for your time!

Very nicely made. I love these turrets, just perfect for PDS (Point Defense Systems).

Ingenious little builds. I disagree with your choice of main photo, though... I thought the S/M-9 MHMG was more eye-catching. These are all clever to some degree, though... nice use of that large crate!
