They operate close to their bases and motherships, and are incapable of faster than light travel, though they make up for this with advanced maneuverability for dogfighting scenarios.
In the Union of Planets, Interceptors are tasked with long range patrol and attack. They travel at superluminal speed and operate farther from their bases and carriers, with emphasis on hit and run techniques over dogfighting capability.
