This is my second attempt at a Mech design completely from scratch. This is a Mech from the Starseige Universe called a Tyr. I basically designed this entire thing from the one picture (posted in my brickshelf page) that I could find.
I think this one came out pretty good however it's not very posable. The ankles, knees and hips all rotate but the plating is so tight there isn't much room to move. I used the AT-AT click hinges in pairs for the ankle and knee joints and the same differential like hip design that I used in the Assassin to balance the torso. If you move one leg the other leg moves in the opposite direction through a simple gear connection.
The cockpit never got finished before I got bored of it and tore it apart. I probably should have taken more pictures or it partially assembled but oh well ....
In a lot of LEGO mechs, it seems like armor takes a back seat to outrageous weaponry and extravagances. This mech, and the universe it is based in, takes a slightly different approach to mech design. I love how BEEFY this herc looks. I think you did a great job of capturing the herculean qualities of that herc.
