The powerful Snake Army calls Castle Glum its home.
About this creation
The inspiration for this castle was the main keep of Castle Campbell (Dollar, Scotland) and therefore bears a spin-off of Castle Campbell's former name (Castle Gloom). I have, over the last 2.5 years, been collecting the pieces I needed from www.bricklink.com on my meager college/med school budget. This castle was intended as a retreat for the king in times of trouble and therefore was built small but well fortified.
The defenses of the castle include a moat, triple thick walls in the main keep with double thick walls for the rest of the walls, a parapit, double thick roof, and exterior spiral staircases with ladders in the main keep in case the spiral staircases should become comprimised in an attack. To enter into the main keep a visitor would cross the drawbridge and pass through: a double set of doors, portcullis, stockade door, portcullis, stockade door, stockade door, stockade door, and yet another stockade door.
Underneath the main keep there is a crypt with a former king and heroic knight buried there along with some of the castle's treasure. On the first floor of the castle is the throne room. Access to the crypt is through a secret entryway in the floor of the throne room. On the second floor there is the castle armory, dining room, kitchen, and winches (one for the drawbridge and one for the outer portcullis). On the third floor there is the king's bedroom, guard's beds (for up to nine guards) and the chapel. The top floor is devoted to storing food/treasure, but there is a fireplace there as well.
I hope to have more pictures loaded after summer, so there will be more interior shots and there will be shots of the army that calls this castle home.
