Don't worry about time Sienar. That's in fact what I am telling you to apply- lots of time and patience. Don't forget to have fun building though and always remember to impress yourself first, everyone else second because trust me, if you impress yourself with lego, you are gonna rock somebody else's mind.
And thank you for taking a liking to my designs. Glad they inspired :). Ok, first task you will need to do is to collect all your hinge pieces and group them in a spread out pile. The best way to learn how to make better wings is "trial & error". Just like it sounds. Test out different hinges- see how you like them. How strong/flexible/aesthetic they are or aren't. It may take you many attempts and that is how I have built all my Star Wars shuttles is by doing "trail and error" and by using a lot of patience and persistence. If you try to build an awesome ship in just a few hours it is likely your ship will not be as awesome as you wished. You have potential, you just need to tap into it. I will look forward to your hinge testing and will monitor what you show.
Its Not a bad start, but I suggest putting in more work and time. I like that you have a wing design- now you need to add a body to these wings. If you post pictures of your progression, I will give you tips as you go along. :)
