Tri-Engine Pod Racer or the "3-h4RD"
An original Tri-Engine Pod Racer or the 3-h4RD.
About this creation
A short while ago, in a room 10 feet from me, a podracer was built. Presenting to you now is my Tri-Engine Pod Racer or the "3-h4RD". I built this not only in mind that it looks cool but that it is original design. I spent probaly 10-15 hours doing research on the idea finding near nothing. Only one person had ever digitally designed one (not in LLD) and one had actually built one out of lego but mine is still original due to the power coupling process. To start off, the above picture is of the full craft. The only regret I have the racer is that it is such a "bland" color using lt. grey, dr. grey, white and black. I just claim that "Brockle" (bra-cul) hasn't made enough to paint it yet.

Below is the front view. You can see the main engine intakes and the "power harness" which I will discuss later. Note: The dr. grey pieces below the power harness is NOT part of the the set but due to lack of clear/ sand colored bricks I used these instead.

Here is the hind full shot. You can see the engine exhaust ports and the rudder/elevators on the back. I used two energy binders (black ropes) for the "top" engine to have more control over it. As all pod racers, the top engine gives the 3-h4RD a advantage over the competition in the way it can deflect the exhaust to make the pod "jump" over the the other racers.

The right side of the pod. The pod is actually very large for a racer but the amount of control it needs over it's three engines justifies the size.

The back. Very boring but so boring that if are stuck behind it, you might just fall asleep. :)

The front with all of it's energy binders.

The inside of the pod. This is your first look at our pilot, there is more on him later down.

Another inside shot. The controls are slightly complicated. There are four hand controls(for power, direction, and pod level), two foot controls (turning, banking and pitch) and two side panels/computer screens (sorry you can only see one). There is a front view screen but I was unable to get a good picture. I used this roll cage look for SW Epd 1 because in the likely of a crash I wanted him to get back up from it to race again.

These are the first pictures of the engines and I will explain them in breif. A top side view of the right engine.

A close up of the exhaust port, made up of a wheel piece and the wing from Obi-wan's starfighter.

Front view of the same engine. I was having a hard time on the engines, trying to come up with something and then someone told me to go with diamond shape. Does anyone recognize the shape from another lego set?

The inside view of the engine.

The uderside.

The engines top portion or the air intake.

This is part of the side paneling and the rudder/elevator, nicknamed the "Fishtail"

The full engine off of the power couplings.

This was the first and (thankfully) last version of the "power harness". This is where I had a lot of debate on how to make a Tri-Engine Pod Racer. The two ways to build one was to either use this, the power harness, where are the power couplings are channeled to each other through it or I could have used the way the two previous idealists had which is what I call a power recycling system. So being original I went with this.

Finally the pilot. Surprisingly enough this was the last thing I built for the racer. Brockle is a male Originat from the planet Blarg. The piece around his neck is an artificial Thylon atmospheric maker.

Thank you for viewing. The overall build time on the project was about 10 hours and with an estimate of 500 pieces. Please comment and rate below. Don't forget to look at my other models. Thank you.

I love it! The tri-engine idea is great and you did a great job on the greebles and detailing.

Never mind, you promised to be active and that's enough. I like the engines, but the pod is my favorite part of the creation.

Quoting Nathaniel Ely Sorry that I didn't remain active on the TFOL group. I was barely on there a week and the I got banned. I was buzy for most of the week with college, lego and work and had very little time to be on MOCpages. So appealing to your better side I would be grateful if I could rejoin TOFL and I promise this time to be a good little builder :)
I was sure you were in the group more than a week. Would you please check the 'activity' page and look back for your first comment (or when you joined) in the group? When was it? I'll have to discuss it with the rest of the administration anyway.

Nathaniel, you were kicked out of the group because you were inactive as a part of a big group-purge. If you want to appeal against the decision, contact me or Flare and the administration will discuss it. Please stop trying to join the group, or you'll be accepted and immediately banned.

Sorry, after looking back (speaking of which that was a pain) I found that I was orignally admitted to the group on the Jan. 3 and was expelled on the 22. Sorry again for the exaggeration.
