Here is my new Incom T-65 X-Wing Starfighter. This USED to be an official Lego X-wing. I believe it is about 75%-80% custom. the only thing i still have in it that is from the set is the wing opening mechanics, the basic rear shape of the wings, the engine shape and piece, canopy, and overall length. But i am happy with my work. It took most of my small white pieces but i pulled it off. thank you for reading and enjoy the creation.
About this creation
nose of the ship. now it is 3 wide with pieces on the side.
cockpit. i redesigned it putting the targeting computer on the left, not the right, more control panels. and a new pilot suit.
engine tubes. i put them off center to copy the actual ship
other side of rear
to change it from flight to landing mode, you MUST remove 5 pieces. On the front gear, the second support couldnt be fit in the nose section no matter what i did.
standing on its engines
I made a stand for it.
detail on the top of the main hull. look closely. you can see a piece comming out of the R2 unit.
see how i did it. its a lever
it is an R2D2 with a turnable head. i DID NOT come up with the idea. someone else on MOCpages did it and i did it for myself.
the side of the stand. VERY simple
the side of the nose section.
the side of the canopy. i know it isnt perfect. i could not figure out how to do the flat angled canopy you see in the real ship. well in this scale. i spent a half an hour on it and i could not do anything. so what can you do.
This is really good. I think you've captured the lines of the ship really well. Perhaps as a different canopy piece, you could use one of the old classic space canopies. Black would suit. You asked me about the mechanism I used. It's a variation on the UCS mechanism, and the wings are attached in an odd way. If you want, I can post some more images of the mechanism.

Wow this is very well executed! A bit messy in some places but very nice!
Nicely done. Someday I'll get a round to modifying mine. Did you get the R2 idea from me? I only ask because I thought I was the first to do it that way, but maybe not if you saw it somewhere else. Anyway, nice work. (And I'm glad the R2 thing worked for you.)
