Rail Zeppelin
About this creation
In the early 30's this experimental German train powered by a BMW aircraft engine set speed records that would stand for decades. There was talk of putting them into service but one can only imagine the havoc that the 4 bladed propeller would cause when pulling into the station!

The 4 blade prop is driven by a 9V motor that takes it's power from the LEGO train motor. The use of the universal joints gives the model a wonderfully realistic sound.

Several years ago I ran into someone's CAD rendering of this train. I built this version from that picture.

The original had only 2 axels. This one has been "Legoized" with 4. The model is strong and has run for years at public shows without undo care & feeding! It never fails to attract attention and thanks to it's long wheel base can take cornors at full throttle! A *.MPD file is availible on the Bickshelf if you would like to build one too!

This is very cool. I have been meaning to to something like this, but haven't gotten around to it. I think you've gotten the design down perfectly. Great job!
