Fiat 126p Bis produced for four years since 1987 has had to be a successor of a "cult" classic fiat 126p which was better known as "maluch" by every one in Poland.
Fiat 126p Bis was different from the regular "maluch" in that the former has two trunks: the front and the back one. Under the back trunk floor there was hidden an improved engine which allowed to reach an amazing speed of 110km/h. However, its horizontal position made the access to it very inconvenient, so it was hard to repair by their owners at their garages. This was the main reason why these cars were so rare on Polish roads those days. Simply, both Bis and "maluch" quite often broke down and car garage services were expensive then. On the other side, the main advantage of Bis was large capacity of the trunk especially when back seats were folded down: approx. 500 litres!
