Armored War Elephant
Add brute force to your ranks! New pictures added! :)
About this creation
Smash through terrain and defenses with this armored beast; while at the same time, providing a firing platform for your archers.

   Overhead View:

The flag 'sticker' is from a bottle of Sobe's Dragon® drink. X-Acto® it off and apply! ;)

   Front View:

Note the driver with his prod-stick.

   Side View:

The side archers are positioned by using a 1x2 plate with stud AND a 1x1 round plate (dot). This allows an angle in order to get around the red support columns and yet fit inside.

   Left Rear View:

Note the foot bands on the elephant.

   Right Rear View:

Note the bladed tusks.

   Diagonal View:

Fits 3 soldiers of the top level, 3 on the bottom platform and 1 driver.

   Ground View:

There are 2 things that are not shown in the Ray-Traced pictures...the elephant and the plain, red flags. I use the Chinese emblem from the Orient Expedition or the Ninja plastic flags; all of which are not in Ldraw part library just yet.

In this picture, one can see the pair of horns and the foot add-ons.

The 2x2 round plates represent the studded war band around the elephant's foot and an additional dark gray square plate is there to make it look better. Plus it gives them more height!

The axes on their tusks are reminiscent of the oliphants in the "Lord of the Rings"®.

   Middle Level View:

The headgear conforms to the elephant's head. In that way it differs from the picture due to me keeping the parts at right angles to each other. Rotating parts at odd angles adds complications, both in the design, but also in the recognition of the assembly.

   Top Level View:

The opening on the middle level is for the 'driver' to sit.

the 'driver' is called a Mahout. they usually carried a whip and a long knife in order to kill the elephant instatly if it began attacking friendly troops due to wounds. this elephant is good, but it needs more armor, most noteabely some form of armor protecting its breast. k bye

This looks very good. I may have to throw one of these together and see how it looks on an actual elephant. Great job!
