Because this moc is so very large and sort of confusing, I have included the full story.
(I hope this isn't a too much for you judges...)
Set in the middle ages in the region of Corzack, there is a small cluster of villages on the outskirts of the wild that are constantly being raided by orcs, and other villians.
Because the kingdom in that area was recently conquered by an opposing force, crime and corruption quickly took after.
Also in the western mountains there is a thriving orc colony that resides inside the volcano Graiktu, making the realm of Corzack even more vulnerable than before.
But just before the times got dire, a mysterious traveller brought together 4 individuals who also suffered from the perilous land, and formed what the villagers call the "Fantastic 5ive".
Armed with strange powers and abilities, these heroes stood against the tides of darkness, as well as keeping the villagers safe.
However, under the corrupt rule the false King he saw this as a threat and he often sended troops to break apart the 5ive, only to end up defeated (and sometimes reject their King later).
So enough of the backstory and plot, here are the characters.
First off here is the mysterious traveller, where others call him the
Gray Mantle, the Forgotten Wizard, or Citador which he mainly goes with.
His past and where he came from is unknown for his main focus
was to fend off the raiding orcs and to put a stop to the false King.
Some say that he was once one of the mighty Wizards of long ago, ranging back over 500 years.
But unlike most wizards, Citador tends to fight in close quarters
and has a powerful rod with rock orb attached.
His magical properties include summoning a vortex which unleashes a consuming fireblast.
The next hero is Silver (with his Snowy Owl). Not much is known about this boy, except that his parents were killed during orc raid.
Not long after his parents were killed, he was accepted into a secret organization called the School of Thieves.
He quickly became a top student and then left. An unknown villager found where the boy resides, and encouraged him to go and take revenge on his parents murderers.
The mysterious villager gave him a necklace with a strange
glowing talon on it, and then vanished.
Weeks later, Silver could Shapeshift into anything just by thinking about it.
His common transformation is a hawk.
So he trained his new-found powers with the Fantastic 5ive, hoping for one day he will to exact revenge on the orcs.
And here's his hawk transformation.
The third hero is Ridavar who is a Wandering Elf that has come from distant untraveled lands. Nobody knows where he came from or why he aids the Fantastic 5ive.
Instead of weapons and armor, all he carries is a staff and what he has on.
When battle comes he uses his quick reflexes and super-human speed
to stun his enemies, and occasionally kill.
Next is a dwarf named Buugruk that originated from inside the
Volcano Graiktu, before Corzack's downfall.
In the past he worked in the mines and helped carve out caves for his dwarven community. But unlike most dwarfs, his race allows special elemental properties, such as the ability of conjuring fire.
These dwarfs were also skilled inventors and makers of terrible weapons.
However, shortly after the Corzack rule fell into chaos, orcs raided Buugruk's city and destroyed it. Only a few of them survived.
Citador recruits him to the Fantastice 5ive a couple of years
later, in order to take back his home.
The last character is an old grizzled veteran, who goes by no name.
Before the times of darkness, he once served with the King's army and fought proudly for his country, until his kingdom was defeated by an evil tyrant who now threatens all of Corzack.
The veteran is an embittered and reluctant hero, who has been haunted by what may-have-been.
But the wizard saw hope in him still and recuited him to the Fantastic 5ive, in hopes that they will overthrow the corrupt kingdom and to restore it to it's original self.
Even though he has no "super powers" of his own, his battle experience and hatred against injustice makes him a feared warrior to meet in combat.
Whew! That was more than I thought.. But we're not quite done yet, here comes the action!
"Heroes are no good unless they are being heroic!"
Travellers have accidently stumbled upon a haunted passageway where a sorceress resides.
To make matters worst, an orc raiding party waylaids them.
But out from the skies the Fantastic 5ive arrives and smashes the invading orc army with sheer awesomeness!
They are unstoppable, especially the dwarf and veteran.
Ah, the smell of freshly cut heads in the morning!
Silver quickly morphs into his hawk transformation to help strike the orcs from above.
(For Owl the Owl: Silver's character transforming into a hawk was a difficult challenge, but I hope he works for you).
Ridavar uses his strength and speed to stun his enemies. Ka-Pow!!
Citador activates a vortex with fire, and starts to mow down
the orcs into crispy overcooked marshmallows...
But in the distance, a huge Mountain Troll arrives!
Can the Fantastic 5ive stop it from reaching the villages?
Looking over the battle, a sorceress is disrupted (from whatever she was doing originally), and begins to summon the undead in hopes to get rid of both the heroes and the orcs from her sanctuary.
This was truly an immense project, but I'm satisfied with the results.
Hopefully (because of the different era) this moc won't
confuse any of you judges.
Because of the category I wanted to create something different and
similar involving superheroes.
Yes these guys look more like characters from some WoW game rather than
superheroes, but the category didn't say which time period (or fantasy) that
the Fantastic Five should be made within (like modern day superheroes).
I just wanted to point that out.
C'mon, super heroes can exist in the medieval times right?
I'm a huge medieval fan (and a fan of storytelling as evidenced by the mocs on my page) and this is just wonderful. Just as involved as the stories that I tell with my characters if not more so. Wonderful job!
You got me good. I was reading down, thinking it was a so-so build and then I got to the picture of the whole MOC. Sweet. Such excellent details and parts usage. Really over the top here. Your score = 5
Awesome work, Stormbringer. Some of the best effects that I have seen in the competition with the hawk transformation at the very top of that list. Completely blown away. My no-name grizzled vetern looks exactly as I was picturing, but ten times cooler when he is chopping up orcs.
Stormbringer, You have Blown. My. Mind. Like Chris said, you have taken this catagory to the next level. But i think you took it farther. Like, to the next next next level! Bravo! Silver is AMAZING! You made the transformation look as real as Lego gets. This is awesome. Good luck with the Judges( i dont think you'll need it though) Epic job!
Crud... Since it's too late to post the names of the team members with their characters on this moc, I'll post it here on this comment.
Sorry for the confusion.
(Citador - Stormbringer)
(Silver - Owl the Owl)
(Ridavar - Icw guy)
(Buugruk - Bob the inconceivably invincible)
(The Grizzled Veteran - Ryan Hanson)
Ok, here goes Chris' long winded comment... Those special effects you have there with the swirling of fire and then the 1x2 trans (mine were clear)... I TOTALLY was just working on a moc with that exact idea! Seriously, I just looked to my right and there's the 1x2s in spirals... ANYWAY, you are correct, we never said they had to be in modern times and I think you took this category to the next level! My only complaint is that I didn't know which character represented which of your team mates. But when put up against the rest of the moc, that is a small thing. This is just... WOW! I can only give five points right? Dangit... ok, here ya go... 5 points! ~ Chris.
