I've started to create a tank. When the drive train was ready, my son came and asked me if it will shoot. I thought... Why not?
I've made a shooting mechanism and it appears to be to high to fit into flat tank turret, so the concept had changed :).
The shooting mechanism is not working as I've expected. First bullet is always squeezed by the rubber band pushing the bullets, so first shot is always the closest one. It may be solved by using stronger rubber band driving stretching mechanism, but M motor is struggling with stretching in this case anyway, so XL engine would have to be used for extra power. Maybe later on I will upgrade this MOC, but first I have to take the XL engine out of my motorized 8880 (ehhh... I need more bricks).
It also makes changing the elevation of the cannon useless as there is no difference in shooting distance at different angles.
One more issue I've spot is the speed of rotating the turret. I haven't spot it as an issue until I've started to aim proper targets. It requires a lot of patience to target properly. Different gear ratio would have to be used to drive the turret or IR Speed Remote Control would be veeeeery useful here (have to buy one...). Anyway, it was something new as this was my first studless construction.
Anyway, shooting mechanism was based on Auto-loading RC Tank, White tiger by GYUTA K. (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/244445) but it works fluently in his MOC.

I still have one channel of the remote free... any ideas what can I plug there?

A little update... I've connected XL engine to shooting mechanism and applied stronger rubber band to the trigger. And it appears that there was no significant difference in the shooting range, also with various elevations of the cannon. Basically, new system have to be developed :) and this project have been given up (read - disassembled :)...
