Most of my building starts off as tablescrap and sometimes evolves into something pretty cool or fun, but usually I deem it unworthy and tear it down. ...They can't all be winners.
This build was no exception to that rule. 'Planet of the Squid' is the end result of a project that I briefly worked on as a concept of something much larger and a lot different than what you see here. I somehow made the connection between a large squidman head and the Statue of Liberty which eventually led us here.
While this is certainly one of my favorite photos (I printed an 8x10), it is not my best building (though I am especially proud of the squidman head - which isn't entirely visible). I really just 'phoned this one in', this thing drew more attention than I ever figured it would or should have. There are other pieces in which I poured my heart and soul into, but this one stole the show.

I'm back. I'm home. All this time it was... we finally really did it... You squiddies! You squidded it up! I was wondering when this would make its way onto the 'pages... great work on this one.
Yeah, eventually the bulk of my work will make its way back here. Keep checking for more and thanks for the words bro!

I love the head!
P.S. was this built a while ago, but not on Mocpages until now, because I think I've seen this before.
Thanks for the remarks Matthew. This was blogged on The Brothers Brick earlier this year and it is on my flickr page too. I am in the process of re-uploading my work to MOCpages. I have had an account here since late 2007, but chose to delete it last summer. I've since decided that shouldn't have let an unruly pack of coyotes get under my skin. Keep your eyes peeled dude, there is a lot more on the way! Thanks again!

Inspired work here Dave, both the build and the post-production. This is a great campaign poster for 2011: The Year of the Squidman. Good to see you back on "The Pages" Dave.
Ah, the magnanimous Mr. Goldman! Its good to be back sir. My standards remain the same though. My kids are still not allowed to visit the site because (in spite of Sean's effort) it just isn't a child-safe place.
