Tornado HAFs were introduced 3 months before the retaking of the Solusre system after the Blacktron took the planet, forcing the defense fleet away. 30 fighters saw action in the conflict, along with hundreds of other units including the Kilimanjaro and the Britannic Darkstar. Only one HAF was lost to a capital ship torpedo.
The fighter is seen to be one of, if not the most deadly fighter ever concieved.
Armament: 2 MRS (Medium Rapid Salvo) lasers, 1 heavy pulse laser (anti-gunship), 1 Lancer cannon (anti-anything)
Shield rating: Military Grade 8
Speed: 1550km/h cruising
Warp speed: 12/20
Other: Null Signature (no presence on enemy sensors)
The design is undoubtedly the most unique and distinctive to ever have existed, although atmospheric flight is somewhat harder than with most other ships due to the bulk. The massive engine array helps to counter this problem, as does the main wing.
Pilots were at first skeptical as to using a fighter with such power due to the likelihood of a capacitor relay exploding in one of the heavier weapons, but failsafes that prevented overheating were equipped, so the fighter has no problems.
Front view. The ship is bristling with targeting equipment for the heavy pulse laser and the Lancer cannon.
Details on the main engines.
The Lancer cannon, probably the most destructive weapon ever to be equipped on a ship of this size. The cannon consists of 8 super capacitors capable of charging up to 10,000V each. This charge of 80,000V is then used to accelerate a beam of particles at high speed after 5 seconds. The cannon is also capable of firing once every two seconds but at a much lower power.
The MRS cannons, primarily used to destroy fighters. 10 shots are fired from each every second.
Cockpit. It's quite spacious unlike most other fighters.

If you know your Star Wars EU well, then you should realise that this is heavily based on the design of the Nebulon Ranger, easily my favourite ship in the SW universe. The model took about 1 and a half to 2 hours to build, incorporating some complex techniques. However, it turned out exactly as I would have liked it to. I hope you like it too. Enjoy!
