Lore: The ISDP9q ‘Shepherd’ is a UGV or unmanned ground vehicle, this automated unit is a military robot primarily used to augment infantry capabilities. This ‘robotic soldier’ is primarily utilized in outdoor environments, as its large size makes effective indoor applications difficult. The Shepherd is one of the largest UGV’s used by the UCM; it is an ambulatory quadruped which allows operation in a wide variety of environments. These drones are controlled from remote operators, either a stationary command post, from inside vehicles, or even by squad members with a portable control terminal. The flexibility, firepower and security granted to an infantry squad deployed with such drones make these units invaluable assets for any mission. If command of the drone is interrupted for any reason it will fall back on preliminary programming in which the Shepherd recognizes friendlies by IR beacons and will only fire upon designated targets when hard linked to a squad members rifle mounted designator. The operator utilizes a series of six full color night vision equipped cameras, two infrared heat imaging sensors, and a rangefinder to give the controller unparalleled abilities to observe and interact in the battlefield.
The twin Arska 15mm cannons are drum fed four barreled water cooled medium caliber weapons designed to be used against infantry, soft skinned vehicles, low flying aircraft and infantry fortified positions. Some variants trade one or both cannons for other weapon presets including flamethrowers, grenade launchers, folding fin rocket pods, or anti-armor recoilless rifles. The Shepherd represents a highly successful class of squad augmentation drone. When combined with infantry battalions these platforms are excellent complimentary units. Providing heavy weapon support and giving the squad the offensive capability of infantry support vehicles but retaining the mobility of the soldier. But most importantly a drone grants the ability to engage threats and scout hostile environments without risk of life.
I've been checking out your stuff all afternoon and I have to say, you're quite the creator. Not only creatng brilliant moc's but your photography and back-stories are off the chain. It's always cool when a guy can just sit back and be entertained by a few moc's - not everyone can do that. Fantastic stuff. - Matt
