This MOC serves a duel purpose, being my entry into The Australian and New Zealand Builders Group competition and the latest Lego holiday project with my kids.
About this creation
The brief was to build a dinosaur and after a couple of false starts we got the big T-Rex. This was followed by the little blue dino for the T-Rex to chase, which then led to the jeep and the Jurassic Park jeep getaway scene!
Some close-up shots of the T-Rex. This was my first attempt at sculpture style building, we ran out of yellow slope pieces pretty quick so then had to colour manage the rest of the build.
The cannon fodder blue dino!
Spidey's jeep. Very happy how this one turned out. Spidey ends up in most of my MOCs.
The blank jungle landscape. We don't have much foliage...the big tree is from the Lego Banana Balance game.
"I don't even know why I bother looking under the bonnet. I don't know the first thing about cars."
"Try the caburetor Spidey, it's always the caburetor. Roar!"
I can't explain why, but I'm continually drawn to this moc. Not that your other stuff isn't great, but there's just this odd amount of ingenuity and creativity in the dinosaur that seems to extend far beyond what you would see at first glance...
Hi family Guard, Great creation! It really looks like a film set. And we are pleased that you did run out of yellow bricks ... The color combination of yellow-orange-red for the T-rex looks fantastic. Bye bye, the Vuurzoon family.
Thanks guys! We usually try to get one lego project in each school holidays. I just ask the boys what they want to build a couple of weeks in advance and then start working out our ideas. I will usually sketch something up for them to approve, and then we work from there.
Thanks for the comments! The dino is still on the shelf for now...but the latest idea from the kids is a big pikachu! The jeep is my favorite piece too, I love the dino, but just feel that we do not have quite enough part to really do it proper justice.
Thanks Aero and Lwc guy for your comments! One for a hilly road, one for more even! LOL! I like the look of the jeep going over the bump to try and add some action to the scene. If we had more bricks I would add more to the landscape but once the main parts of the MOC are done there is not much left! Our collection still fits into a Lego Deluxe Brick Bucket.
