Titan class space frigate
Realistic war space ship
About this creation
Since I'm too old to play Legos, I see them as a way to bring to life my sci-fi concepts.

This ship is intended to be the first attempt in creating a theme, that is "Real space". I'd like to represent realistic space crafts, designed with their functions in mind.

The background for this theme is the near future, 70 to 100 years in the future. Mankind is still divided into countries like today, each one with their space program. We have many lunar cities, and several large space stations in leo or in the Lagrange Points. But there is nothing new: spaceships have the same propulsion systems of today, there's no artificial gravity on the spaceships nor on the space stations (unless they have a rotation section that simulates it).

So, I started with a warship: a small one, built in orbit and unfit to land on Earth nor on the Moon, whose purpose is to shot down satellites or space stations or spaceships.
I built it with today hunter submarines in mind. It uses guided missiles to hit its targets: so, no things such as big guns (it takes a space debris 1 cm in diameter to nearly kill a spacecraft!), no bulky armor, and so on. The crew is limited to 10 men, who work in turn.

I christened this "Titan class", as I presume there is a bunch of these ships each one with the name of one of Saturn's main satellites (Mimas, Encelado, Hiperyon, and so on).

It's classified "frigate" just like all small warships during the late age of sail where named frigate!

Eheh... I'm not too good with fotocomposition

View of the engines. I believe they're liquid propellant boosters, but they are underdimensioned!!!

Solar panels unfolded. They provide most of the energy used by the ship, and they're folded only in combat situation

Weapons bay open. Missiles would be gently ejected and their rokets would ignite when away from the ship.

great! except that i thought it was microscale :( too bad its minifig size...(i m a microscale sci fi fan) i agree with you on the "real space" idea and will be ready to follow tho i believe that mircoscale offers more possibilities to a lot more people and that starting a sci fi theme called "real space" is a bit paradoxal because until now it is still sci fi if you have time check out my homeworld folder for my microscale stuff you'll see what i mean about microscale;) anyways...this ship is really nice! keep building
