The M-10 tank destroyer was an American tank
destroyer of World War II. It was one of the most
important tank destroyers of the war. The
M-10 tank destroyer stayed in service until the
end of the war. The British called it the wolverine,
but the Americans stuck with the name TD (which is
a nickname for any tank destroyer in general). The
American tank destroyer units were meant to counter and destroy the German blitzkrieg strategy.
The american tank destroyer had to move aggressively in order to destroy enemy tanks.
The American design was equipped with a turret
that was open-topped, unlike most tank destroyers of that time. (I decided to make mine close-topped for extra protection). The gun, which was a 76 mm. was not the most powerful of guns, but still got the job done. The gun could shoot an Armor Piercing M79 shot that could penetrate three inches of armor at 1,000 yards. Other ammunition that it would sometimes carry includes: Armor Piercing Ballistic Cap M62 projectile, High Velocity Armor Piercing M93 shot, and Armor Piercing High explosive. A .50-caliber Browning M2HB machine gun could be mounted on the turret For the use of killing infantry, and could also be used as an anti air-craft gun. During the M-10's combat debut in Tunisia in 1943, it was successful because its gun could handle almost any german tank at the time. Many of the M-10 tank destroyers were being used in Italy and France. The gun was soon upgraded to a more effective 17- pounder.
About this creation
I added two 7.92 mm. guns to the front of my tank to increase the amount of firepower. I also, like I said, made the turret
close-topped instead of open for greater protection. I thought the tank would look good in white camo. It has a fully detailed interior with an engine. Hope you like it!!
