Entry for FBTB's Hybrid Contest. First I decided on themes: "Symmetry is beauty" and "...Not your TIEpical S-Foils." Then, I simply mashed up inspiration taken from the TIE Fighter and X-Wing. What else can I say?
Entry for FBTB's Hybrid Contest. First I decided on themes: "Symmetry is beauty" and "...Not your TIEpical S-Foils." Then, I simply mashed up inspiration taken from the TIE Fighter and X-Wing.
Naturally, I choose to go with the overall shape of the TIE Fighter.
X-Wing inspiration demanded adjusting wings.
I didn't want too many holes exposed in the front faces of the engines, so it was an excellent opportunity to put some bling here.
Originally, I had used four of the blaster cannons from the X-Wing, but I thought it was too plain and unoriginal. So, I decided on making my blasters completely brick built.
Turn Imposter on it's axis, and it's X-Wing aspiration shows.
Keeping symmetry in mind, Imposter is very well balanced vertically and horizontally.
Thus, allowing strong solid SWOOSHABILITY!!!woo-hoo!!!
Cockpit functions similar to any other official Lego Star Wars TIE.
I did not want any switches or hand levers for steering. Instead, A hand motions detector made of cheeses.
(Fave this creation if you love cheese!!YAY!!)
Built functioning hatch in the back...
(BONUS POINTS if you can name that blue slope brick with printed design)
...To reveal a trunk in the trunk (Who would've thunk?)
What's in the trunk? The goodies, of COURSE!!!...The Pilot also deals lightsabers as an uncertified vendor, earning the nickname BMS (Black Market Supreme)
Throw in a couple of pilot poses, just for flavor...
What do you think she smirks about?
The two (2) pictures above are my submissions for the FBTB Hybrid Contest.
I had so many difficulties creating this beaut, from form to function. It was quite the challenge for me to follow through keeping these colors as I intended. This could have easily been white with red instead of blue, but i resisted.
I hope you enjoy this creation as much as I did
As you can tell, I took more time with the picture angles
and extra time to add comments as a kicker.
Last note, I honestly did not want to attempt this contest because I thought my idea would be too typical. Forcing myself to enter in this contest, I realize the growth stepping outside my comfort zone as an artist and builder.
anyhow, you know how it goes, fave it, comment, repost, enjoy.
Thank you for viewing, and thank you for your time.
