1:484th scale. The largest underwater vessel ever built, the Typhoon class Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine, made famous by the novel and movie, "The Hunt for Red October" by Tom Clancy.
About this creation
The 20 hatches for the SS-N-20 or Bulava SLBMs, Sub-Launched Ballistic Missiles. A single Typhoon carries the nuclear firepower of over 1000 Fat Man or Little Boy atomic bombs of the kind used on Japan in a terrible atrocity that at least succeeded in ending WWII. Although some would criticize the decision to use them, and I agree it is a decision that should never be repeated, many more American and Japanese soldiers would have been killed in an invasion of the Home Islands than the Bombs took. Had the atomic bombs not forced the Japanese Emperor to surrender and thus persuade the Japanese people to cooperate, millions of of Japanese citizens and soldiers would no doubt have committed suicide in the event of a victorious American invasion.
