As is usual for me at the moment, a last-minute entry for the 4x4x4 contest.
Alien Invasion! Category – Sci-fi
I was determined that I would do at least one of these minivigs without minifigs so here it is. A massive one-eyed alien sits atop a high-rise apartment building, while the human defence effort begins with the arrival of a heavily armed tank. What is its alien intent?
By the way, I love that alien pet head piece. Had to get it in here somehow, so microscale seemed a good idea.
Throne of the Conqueror. Category – Fantasy
I’ve been watching Game of thrones. I had an image/ wanted to build a throne supported by a pile of the bodies of the conquered fallen, but 4x4 doesn’t give you much room for an imposing pile of corpses, so this is the alternative take. The warlord celebrates atop his throne, supported by the skeletons who metaphorically represent the fallen in his drive for conquest.
Didn’t think I would get to use ‘imposing pile of corpses’ today. Serious? Well yes, so let’s lighten the mood with….
Did I just sea that? Category – Comedy
Yes the pun in the title is intentional. We’ve all seen some variation of this set-up, a happy drinker see’s something unbelievable and wonders if the drink has affected his reasoning or sanity. If I could do a second frame of this one, our drunken sailor would probably be tipping his booze away (sorry Heath, don’t mean to scare you!)
I can see the leak boss, if I can just reach iiiiiiitt! Category – Other
Not really comedy, but an excuse to try a technique I wanted to use (the leak) and see if I could get it on a base so small. Let’s call it work-based drama! Think of it as the first couple of moments of ER or (in the UK) Casualty – you can just see an accident waiting to happen to allow the medical types something to do for the rest of the episode.
Well seeing as this is pretty much all 4th wall, I’ll just point out that anybody who hasn’t had a go at this 4x4 lark should try it out. The restriction of the tiny base makes you think upward, but to only have a single level to use gives it a real tweak and exercises your creativity.
Well done to Yuri for starting this up, thanks to the judges for giving up some time and good luck to everybody who entered.
Nice moc, but wouldn't it be 4x4 because if it was an extra x4 it would be 4 bricks high, I think. Anyway I am an admin for a group you are in, the timelords, we are hosting a contest with prizes and we would like every member to participate, please also alert some doctor who fans you know of this if they are not in the group already.
Freakin insane amount of NPU here Stu. Just all around great builds. That alien moc is really spectacular. I knew it would be useless to join this competition against the master of competitive bricking himself.
These are all BRILLIANT, especially for having to pack so much detail in a tiny scene. Love the alien and micro tank. Also, the leak effect is pretty spiffy. I almost cried when I read you were gonna have the drunk dump his drink! I mean, really? That's serious alcohol abuse there, man!
Oh man, you nearly gave me a heart attack for a second there. Who would willingly pour out their drink? I mean if I start seeing things, I drink more to make them disappear. That's normal, right?! LMAO Really dig the leak and the splash effect of the mermaid. Great job on all of them really, and good luck in the contest!
You already got me with the king kongesque brain slug and then I spotted the little tank. Fantastic. The throne looks like something that I really need for my office. Your comedy entry reminded me instantly of a scene from the fabulous movie "Yellowbeard". The splashing water looks very good, just like the spill.
Everyone that enters any contest always wants theirs to win. That said, If I do not win I'd not mind it if you did! And by the way the alien is considered a "mini-fig"! Well done, high drama and great story telling! Loved the mermaid!
